Wilks should win that job.
Playing next to LeBron is a good career move for a point guard.

There figures to be several interesting position battles once Cavaliers training camp starts on Oct. 4.
Damon Jones and Eric Snow will vie for the starting point guard spot, Donyell Marshall and Drew Gooden for starting power forward, and a battle for third point guard.
The Cavaliers agreed to a partially guaranteed contract with veteran point guard Mike Wilks late Wednesday. Currently, he's considered the front-runner to win the job.
Recently, Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry also agreed to a similar deal with Blake Stepp. The former Gonzaga star played well in summer league for the Cavaliers in July, when he averaged 10.2 points and shot 50 percent on 3-pointers, but has battled a series of knee problems in recent years.
It is likely the Cavaliers will have at least one other player in camp competing for the job. Filiberto Rivera, who starred last season at UTEP, is a candidate.
Wilks played 48 games for the world-champion Spurs last season, when Ferry got to know him. Overall, he has three years of NBA experience, averaging 2.3 points and 1.2 assists in 120 games.
Wilks should win that job.

Good luck to him. Wilks is a cool cat.
Congrats Wilks. Now when LeBron gets y....show him your big-ass ring and tell him to shut the up!![]()
I'll root for Mike for as long as he's in the league.
To bad I liked him and would have wanted to keep him. But I guess once we got NVE there would be no space for him here
maybe he can get james to trust his teammates
You guys think the Spurs will pick up a 4th PG?
I don't. If the Spurs end up needing to rely on a 4th PG, they've got huge problems.
I'd think the remaining roster spots are better spent on trying to identify young wing players ala Steven Jackson, Ira Newble, and Devin Brown.
Besides, why waste the roster spot now when international hero Shane Heal remains a free agent?
gee tp is stuggling in euro a little but people need to take a chill pill
spurs got nve, barry, beno and manu that can play point
spurs would not need a 4 point
they need another big or a long three not a point guard
I am puzzled as to why the Spurs havent resigned him.why waste the roster spot now when international hero Shane Heal remains a free agent
A total lack of intelligence by the Spurs FO, fire Buford immediately IMO.
ANYWAYS!!!!
Resign Big Dog, put Udrih on the IL all year unless needed for injur to X or TP.
Done.
Maybe he'll set an example and actually give some effort for his teammates, and earn some trust, unlike last year's team that left LBJ to try to do it on his own.
Wow, Ferry is really taking the Spurs' approach ain't he...
