He's the guy. The reason for this loss is simple. No Duncan.
I don't care who you are, no one, not Kawhi, is keeping Lebron out of the paint. When Duncan plays, Kawhi's job (just like Bowen's) is to funnel Lebron into Duncan. In addition to Lebron, the Cavs have other penetrators in Irving and Smith.
Just not a good matchup for us without Tim being able to anchor.
It didn't help that the only other guy capable of providing some rim protection was stuck on the bench most of the game with foul trouble.
And he also has to step out and guard Kevin Love.
That leaves David West as the sole rim protector
Kawhi did fine on Lebron until Pop started playing zone, then Lebron just started exposing the mismatches.
Edit: As far as OP, I swear some people here are complete idiots. Kawhi is leading the team in scoring right now, he's not going to beat a top team on his own unless he gets 30 shot attempts or something absurd like that and that's never going to happen with the Spurs. Not his fault LMA got in foul trouble and they couldn't stop Irving or Love.

Like I said in the thread he can either expend lots of energy on D like he did last year to get DPOy or he can attempt to carry us on offense which is usually a big fail, at which point his d suffers. he can't do both, which is why he'll always be a high level role player. red and those screens turned him into matt barnes fodder in the playoffs ffs. how can that happen to a 24 year old smh

^^^ Look at Bill when he realizes Kawhi is choking on the FT line again after missing the first of two game clinching FTs, which would have clinched a 2 seed down the line and probably a repeat. van gogh couldn't have painted an expression which showed so much frustration and resentment. Kawhi just lacks that je ne sais quoi, you can see it in his eyes.
The Cadavers were allowed to drop both forearms into LMA's back, and he can't fart on a Cadaver at the other end. Leonard was bounced around like a Pinball in the first half with no fouls being called.
The assholes they rolled out as refs tonight sucked.
