If he would have walked away at 33, the last time he played in the postseason, ESPN would probably put him a few slots higher. His legacy is forever tarnished, especially due to the past 2+ seasons. TOSB not just a label, but caused severe damage.

Has there ever been a more startling, albeit logical, crumbling of a player legacy than that of Kobe's when it is enclosed between the Sweep (2011)- Retirement (2016)?

It has come down in a heap: from Top 5 () to 12th..

This is true, but neither he nor anyone here would give up 50 million for ESPN's higher ranking.

What tarnished Kobe's facade (not legacy) is that when daddy left, Kobe went full on introvert "me" mode. He subsequently got his pushed in by teams that weren't even that good. Then Pau comes along and the Lakers are good again, and because Kobe has the ear of the fans and the ownership, he gets the lion's share of credit and shots, thus a couple rings are falsely credited to him as FMVP. Then when Pau's gf gets LDN'd by Shannon Brown, Pau goes into Robert DeNiro "Awakening" mode where he's useless and Kobe gets his ass handed to him on a silver platter by the Mavs. Kobe never musters a showing after that.

Kobe had a "look at me now" moment and when it faded, the body of his work did not support the tower of falsehoods built around it by his fans and many in the media. It is what it is. He got rich from it, but then again so did Joe Johnson.

Despite all that, had Kobe not been a head his entire life, someone would have watched out for him to prevent his eventual collapse. No one gives a about him other than what they can get from him.

If they truly embrace analytics, Kobe will be ranked much lower.

I think I never confessed my love for 12

It's always one of my favourite numbers.

    It makes a dozen.
It's divisible by 1,2,3,4 and 6. Meaning it's divisible by 83% that it can possible divide by (numbers that are equal to or less than its half).
    The clock has twelve hours
It has religious meanings 12 disciples
There are twelve months to a year (which also means most women have twelve periods a year)
    There are twelve zodiac signs
The Chinese have 12 animals signs for the years
It's the reverse (read opposite) of 21, which happens to be Duncan's jersey number.

'12 was also the last year Kobe (at the ripe young age of 33) played his last playoff game
