It is clear that moving forward with him isn't the optimal rebuilding strategy..At 32, and only declining from here, he is not on the same timeline of Porzingus.

And now that they have likely slumped their way out of the playoffs race the past couple weeks..If I'm Phil, i would try to talk him into waiving his no-trade clause and see what i can get in return from teams like Chicago/Heat/Clippers-- markets that one presumably think he would be ok to move to..

Melo is probably an innate loser, though, and won't even bother to ring-chase..At what point does he realize he shouldn't be #1 option anymore?

Carmelo is a money guy. He's staying in New York no matter what.

Problem with him is that he's never about winning, tbh. He's satisfied as long as he gets paid, it doesn't really matter to him how many rings he's gonna retire with. NY knew it in the first place yet they didn't care about it either, because the team shares almost the same methodology with Melo. He's still a valuable asset to NY as long as he can sell tickets, tbh.

As if it's not obvious by now, Melo has never been a 1st option player that can put a team on his back. He always underachieved in Denver and he's a disappointment in NY, a jarring reminder that's often overlooked by GM's that they should never put all their stock on a one way player.

Carmelo is coming to grips with reality that he's just not a winner. He'd be a great second or third option for teams like the Pistons, Hawks or Grizzlies. Teams who could use a big time scorer.

& Durant needs to take a good, long look at both Anthony & himself.

The Wizards should trade Beal/Nene/Dudley for Melo since they aren't getting KD.

Phildos most glaring mistake in taking over the Knicks.
Now he is virtually untradeable with his Kobmelike contract.

Imagine the cap space the Knicks would have had.
