I have a question for those of you whom are more computer savy than myself (which likely equates to more than half of the forum). I'm running Windows Xp office on an older Compaq computer, circa 2000. 564 MHz processor and 192 MB of RAM. I have problems watching video and certain programs which require more memory seem to crash more often than with Windows 2000. Is my computer the problem? Oh, I have a cable connection.

Yes. Your computer is probably too slow to run both XP and run the video and whatever programs you are trying to run.

xp and your computer is going to work as well as george bush trying to speak in a complete sentence both will sputter. Seriously you might want to think about an older os like 98se or go w/ a new pc.

It's the kids computer now. I just tried to install XP on it to better their cartoonnetwok.com experience. , I can revert back to the ME package it came with.

The problem is going to be with direct X API and that system's video .. You would have to upgrade it's video card to fix.

Thanks Vashner. I'll likely just revert back to 2000 or buggy ME.

Maybe you could look for updated drivers .. I assume it has some integrated video chipset like an Intel.

The thing about those type of integrated cards is they where made for directX 5-7 and many lack a lot of the calls that DX 8.0 / 9.0 API have for rendering directdraw etc.

Btw i'll assume you have also upgraded to the latest Microsoft Direct X 9.0c.
