In the aftermath of the New York Knicks' unexpected firing of head coach Derek Fisher, Adrian Wojnarowski of the Vertical reports that there is "strong belief Jackson will eventually find his way to his fiancée Jeanie Buss and the Los Angeles Lakers," possibly with Luke Walton or Tom Thibodeau as head coach.

Jackson has previously stated that he is no longer interested in coaching, and the Lakers currently have front office staff in place with vice president of basketball operations Jim Buss and longtime general manager Mitch Kupchak. Additionally, Lakers president Jeanie Buss has previously stated that her brother has until his self-imposed deadline of the summer of 2017 to turn the Lakers around, so Jackson entering this summer would seem unlikely.

That's 2 sources now (SAS being the other one). Could it be? Should it be Lakerfans?

If he wants to come back and coach full time on a 3 year deal, fine, come on ahead. Otherwise, no.

You are light two competent NBA players with him at the helm though.

Phil can't turn around the Lakers. He's done a decent job with the Knicks but what's going to hurt him is his inability to let go of the triangle offense and find a good coach. Luke is going to be a ty coach.

Under what capacity? The Knicks has plummeted and confidence in his ability to run under a new position has apparently dropped.

That would be great but only if he returned as the coach, would be nice seeing the young guys develop under him

agree. the stench of his failure in new York as POB isn't enough to overcome the 5 rings the lakers franchise has loaned him

If they do that they have given up completely. Lakers need a future, not a return to some crackhead version of the past.
