Yeah I don't really care for the idea of renaming an airport after an athlete. Yes David has done a lot for this community but I don't think I'd name an airport after him...
I've thought about this in the past, and with the start of expansion to the airport, should it be renamed?
And if so, to what?
In my opinion:
David Robinson International Airport (DRA)
Henry Cisneros InternatIonal Airport (CIA)
Goerge Gervin International Aiport (GGX)
Yeah I don't really care for the idea of renaming an airport after an athlete. Yes David has done a lot for this community but I don't think I'd name an airport after him...
Flat, Hot and Dusty Airport
Henry Cisneros?
Maybe Henry B. Gonzales or something, but not Cisneros.
Why does it need to be changed?
Orange County changed their name to John Wayne Airport, yet it's still referred to as Orange County and it's letters are SNA which stands for Santa Ana.
In short, don't change it at all.
How about renaming it to Louis Armstrong International Airport?
How about not wasting money on bull ?
Smallville airport, home of no NFL franchise
How about quit being such a goober Buddy Holly?
its fine the way it is, leave it alone.
Cisneros.
You dont need sports guys to name your airport after.
I agree that Henry B Gonzales did alot for this city and should be at the top of the list.
Of Course DRob can be considered...not only did he SAVE the one and ONLY major professional sports franchise this city has, but his contributions over the years are immeasureable...just the Carver Academy alone has helped countless youths...
i'd vote for either, but i must admit, i've gotten used to the SAT...so maybe we can rename it and keep those call letters...![]()
You can change the name of the airport but the three letter code will not change. Case in point....Intercontental Airport of Houston (IAH) is now named George Bush Intercontenal but its still coded as IAH.
I just call it the airport.
Hey Big Z-
How goes it? = )
To attract tourists and make us some money I think we should abuse
Davy Crocketts name...
Not that the other people mentioned where not good...
He was one of the reasons they held out so long .. may not of even be an airport with him and the others.

And Mikey is right the three letter code have rarely anything to do with the name of the airport - it usually referes to the geographical location of the airport.
LAX - L.A.
LAS - Las Vegas
SFA - San Francisco
AMS - Amsterdam
LJU - Ljubljana
MUC - Muenchen
...
Actually the only exception I can think off is Paris: CDG - Charles De Gaulle airport.
JFK
YYZ
Put it up for sale....
"San Antonio Google Airport"
"San Antonio Valero Airport"
If you're going to rename it, howabout The Alamo International Airport.
I just don't like naming anything after crooked politicians![]()
NO!!!!!!!!!
You pretty much have to call it the Alamoport if you're going to do that.
