Has this item been posted before? Sorry if it has, here is the passage in piece written by George Eddy:

Horry's Game 5 performance was a playoff monument and the highlight of the series. After four lopsided games the series became a classic in Games 5 thru 7. A Game 7 in the Finals is a more rare occurrence than a World Soccer Cup final(only three in 19 years).

The unknown turning point in Game 7 was in the 3rd quarter when Horry whispered to Duncan to shoot his free throws with more arc... from there on San Antonio came back and dominated.

By the way, hitting coaches in the Major Leagues have been proving this for years! (REFERENCE CHARLIE LAU...dude hit .255 in the Majors but is the greatest hitting coach ever)

Anyone can see the problem with Duncan's free throws. When he's missing them badly, especially in the fourth quarter when he's tired, he stands flat-footed without any flexing of the knees and uses only his arms.

Try it sometime and see if you don't start coming up short.

The turning point was when Horry told Duncan to shoot free throws with more arc...hmm. No. The turning point was when Larry Brown was being a and played Tayshaun Prince at the freakin 4 against Duncan and Horry. One of the stupidest coaching moves in the history of the NBA. He is more freakin conservative than Lloyd Carr with a lead, which they usually blow because he is so freakin conservative.

Yeah, but will we see the FT% go up dramatically now that the team finally has a shooting coach ? ... if so, then I see this team doing great things...last season they gave away a lot of games at the stripe.

What?? I hope he's not referring to the World Cup final, because its 3 in 12 not 19.

The Pistons were not going to win that series under any cir stances. The only reason it was even close is because the Spurs had won the le in the previous round and fell asleep after two games. If you go back and look, a lead didn't mean much to any Spurs opponent in the playoffs, especially in the fourth quarter. Bowen and Parker shutting down the Pistons' backcourt was more of a factor than anything Tayshaun did, so don't blame the coach that got your team a ring in the first place.

I think he was talking about penalties in WC finals. Journalism at its worst.
