I think this is Manu's last season. I figurin he wants to end his basketball with his country's national team.
These could easily be the last regular season games for Timmy D and Manu... and the end of the good ole big 3.
I thought they both generally did very well considering the age and the role they play now.
They obviously show their age here or there, that's expected, tbh, but I'm not sure the Spurs would be a near 70-win team without them.
so,
- Do you think they have enough in the tank to come back for another season, if they so choose? I think they do.
- If they do come back, do you see that as a hindrance to develop younger players, robbing minutes from them? I think their roles and mins are limited already, so no.
- If they don't come back, how many wins do you think the team would be able to pull off next season? (if we pretend the roster basically stays the same, and compe ion too). I'm going with 50 wins, mid-high tier in the West.
I think this is Manu's last season. I figurin he wants to end his basketball with his country's national team.
Don't want Tim's career stats to get ruined, tbh..
If porker retires we beat the bulls record.![]()
I think this is it for both.
I want manu and tim to come back. It would be a major blow to the team becausr Manu and Tim are great at playing their respective roles.
I think Manu can go one more year but not Tim. Tim's other knee is an issue now and its safe to say "the wheels" aint what they used to be.
I think Tim goes another year for sure. Manu, I think he's 50/50. I really think if Tim and Pop ask Manu to come back, I think he will. In talking about coming back this year, Manu said something to the effect I wanted to feel really needed and Pop told him he was.
Also, it would be nice to see Tim add to his record collection with the most games ever played, passing Parish and Kareem. With Kawhi and LaMarcus fully entrenched as the new superstars of the Spurs, and the Spurs still collecting 50+ win seasons, and now coming off a Spurs record for most wins in a season, why not come back.
BTW, I know this is trivial, but I'd hate for Tim and Manu to go into the HOF the same year as Kobe and probably KG.
The only way I'd be okay with either or both leaving is if they won the le this year.
Today I relocated my tickets to many more games for twice the money and certainly thought about this. I'm thinking with the passing of the torch to LMA and Los Hand- they are probably leaning that way. There isn't the pressure they'd have otherwise.
Then there is this...

This is it man.. This is their last season..
No more Tim or Manu next season.
Damn El, way to rain on our parade as an amazing season is coming to an end.
Yeah it's a tough one!
Manu has another year in him, Tim is done (hurts to say). Though Manu won't play another year, I think he's going out with Argentina.
Conversations with ElNono:
Javier: Hey El, check out my new car!
ElNono: You know it lost half its value once you drove it off the lot?
Hector: Hey nono man, I just got a job offer from Google.
ElNono: Nice, but you'll be training an Indian to take it over in a couple of years.
Guadalupe: Nono, I just got back from the hospital with my new baby boy Fernando.
ElNono: You know he'll die one day right?
Jose Luis: Nono man, I just proposed to my woman and she said yes!
ElNono: But you don't have a green card either.
Miguel: Hey Nono, my daughter Carmen just got into Yale.
ElNono: Have fun with that student loan.
Luz Elena: Nono, you wanna come in for coffee?
ElNono: What the ? This ain't even shaved.

I think the playoffs will be an indicator for both, assuming they're both on the fence.
It was just last playoffs that Tim was blocking Blake's shot. Leads me to think he's embracing the twilight Admiral-role.
They both leave, the team loses it's two smartest players.
Word from people within the organization is that they believe Duncan will be back for another year, ring or no ring
Tim's back one more year. Manu's probably gone imho.
Tim's decline has been sharp. Maybe, he'll rediscover himself in the playoffs. I'd like to see him go out on back to back rings, tbh. Even then, I'd want him to stay.
Well, hey, this stuff is happening, tbh... we all know the end is nigh when it comes to the glorious big 3, although I think they can both go for another season...
Don't see why they both can't go another season, especially Timmy. Do not want TD to enter HOF same year as Kobe.
Interesting topic. I will state something up front, I am not wishing for them to retire. I definitely think they can do another year, but it's getting to the very end of their careers and they are maybe ready.
1. For Timmy it's really the knees. They have been bothering him. Even smaller guys (6'10" rookie Trey Lyles for example) can do a number on him and shut him down. Frankly that is hard to see. The 0 FG, 0 rebound games will become more common. Him sitting out bc he can't handle matches or has sore knees will become more common. I am sure there are times where it has to be a struggle physically already, we just don't get to know about things like that and every time Pop rests these guys it's all CIA Pop this or that in here, but for me the Timmy rest this season was for real. When he got it, he hadn't been looking good for a few games already. Considering how many minutes he logged just last season in a more injured and worse roster, and him with quite the burden, it's amazing the difference in health and resilience and the need for rest, sore knees, etc. That will increase at 40. It really might be time.
2. Manu I think was ready to move on with his life already last season. He came back bc the team begged him and he still found the fire to play, but it wasn't an easy decision and he even had uncertainties about the national team. Him announcing his play for the national team after what projects to be a long postseason makes it seem as if this is his last hurrah.
I don't think he hurts Anderson's development at this point bc Pop is emboldening Kyle to make plays for others already and giving him the ball in positions to make plays. That is likely to be increased next season regardless of Manu.
Bottom line it's all about Tim and Manu, how they feel and what they want to do, not LMA, not Boban, not Kyle or Simmons. They both basically did this season whatever they could to get those guys developed or ready for roles, in case they do retire, a likelihood.
3. Bonner not being cut is another sign it's the last hurrah for the big 3 with Bonner too, a sentimental gift to keep them together.
4. I do think we get at least 50 wins next season, maybe more. We won't have this point differential, but still win a lot of games, health permitting. Kawhi's status will be cemented based on what he does post Tim/Manu and he is hungry, young and in his prime. Kyle will step up IMO. We survived the injuries to both Tim and Manu together with a winning record bc everyone upped his play, and Kyle stepped up no matter what role Pop asked him to play. He will be better next season with a more defined role.
We will be in need of a quality guard without Manu. I hope Simmons improves next season. He ended the regular season playing better and I like him more than Martin. For a while I thought if Manu retires maybe you could play Kyle/Martin together since Pop doesn't want to play too many youngsters together anyways, too many potential mistakes, but Kyle/Simmons are a definite better pairing.
I look forward to someone new as well, whether that is Bertans, this summer's draftee, or a free agent. We will get some kind of reinforcement.
Tim will gain #2 all time wins stat if he comes back next season. Hits #1 if he comes back for 2. Yeah his career averages will fall but it doesn't matter. Most wins ever is a fly ass ing stat tbh.
Heard some stat on ESPN this morning: Duncan has more Wins than Michael Jordan has games played as a Bull.![]()
