The Indiana Pacers unveiled their new uniforms and logo system Thursday. They will begin wearing the new uniforms for the 2005-06 regular season.
The uniforms are the 11th in franchise history, replacing the classic pinstripe that the team has worn for several seasons. The new uniforms have a clean and classic look featuring the traditional blue and gold, with a new accent of gray on the uniform and added to the logo. The uniforms and logo modifications were designed in conjunction with the National Basketball Association and Reebok.

The jerseys and shorts consist of a different fabric on the front and back. The front and inserts are made of Play Dry metallic stretch air. The back is made of Play Dry flatback mesh, an open hole mesh allowing for more breathability. This marks the first time a NBA team will wear a jersey consisting of different fabric on the front and back.

The addition of gray as a tertiary color gives the uniform and logo a classic and timeless look representing quality and refinement. The “Pacers” wordmark has been stylized to be cohesive with the font used on the uniforms. A secondary logo was created which was inspired by the center court logo of the playing floor. The secondary logo appears on the uniforms in the insert of the shorts.

The Pacers were unable to feature a pin-stripe look to their uniform due to the use of the high-performance based fabrics used in making the current uniforms. The pin-striped look was difficult to produce as each pinstripe had to be woven into the material. This method made the jersey heavier than most and did not allow for the current performance fabrics to be used.

The jerseys will be made available immediately at ’s Sporting Goods, The Finish Line and both Home Court locations. ’s Sporting Goods will have the jerseys available at six locations: Avon, Carmel, Castleton, Greenwood, Traders Point and Washington Square. The Finish Line will have them available at 21 locations throughout Indiana and two locations in Kentucky. The jerseys are also available at Home Court in Conseco Fieldhouse and Circle Centre Mall.

    UNIFORMS

The uniforms have an updated iden y including a refined primary logo, new secondary logo and new home and road uniforms.

The home white jersey has gold inserts and blue/white/gray braid. The inserts have an organic flow up into the arms and down into the leg. The curves are inspired by the moving and cutting of a basketball player and from the path a race car would take around a turn. The insert is tied together with a unique neckline that flows into the chest of the player.

The road blue jersey is similar to the home jersey, but with blue inserts and a gold/white/gray braid.

The fabric of the uniform will consist of a different fabric on the front and back. The front and inserts of the jersey are made with Play Dry metallic stretch air. The back of the jersey is a Play Dry flatback mesh, which is an open hole mesh allowing for slightly more breathability in a key area of perspiration. This marks the first time a NBA team will wear a jersey consisting of different fabric on the front and back. This concept was tested in the 2005 NBA All-Star Game.

“PACERS” is the featured wordmark on the home jersey in blue with a gold outline. “INDIANA” is the featured wordmark on the road jersey in white with a gold outline. The numbers on the front and back are consistent with the wordmarks. The opposite wordmark of each jersey is found directly embroidered on the center back of the shorts.

The secondary logo appears on both sides of the shorts in a classic spot inside the insert.

That's a fairly conservative redesign. It looks like they've tried to reference the old ABA jerseys with that braid on the inserts.

Also note the shift to a lighter shade of blue. Royal blue is the new fad.

I believe the official position of Spurs fandom is that only traditionally-styled jerseys in white or black with silver trim and block numbers are attractive, and that any other look with any other colors sucks. So therefore these suck.

I would like the Spurs to have a new look. Something that resembles...uh...the new 21st century.

The retro-1960's look is intentional. I think Pop would take the players' names off the back of the jerseys and force them all to lace up in Chuck Taylors if he could.

What is the new 21st century. I keep seeing teams going with a retro-style look.

The Spurs should go retro, but add some flavor to it. Something simple, but something that stands out from the rest.

I'm just glad the Spurs finally dropped the gy fiesta logo. I hope they never change it from the way it is now, unless it's to drop the names off the back like ES mentioned.

Back to the topic: The new jerseys won't make the Pacers suck any less.

I liked the Pacers pinstriped unis...thought it was sort of a classic look in a state where hoops is a religion.

The new blues look OK. The white one in the first post wasn't terrible, but Jermaine O'Neal in one looks a little funny in the pic with Jack.
