Gotta give this dude credit...as weird as he is he's genuinely a zen and humble dude. He's prolly the only dude in the league that was married to an un able woman in his prime.

I think you hit it on the head. His Wife was no longer hot and he was busy losing and winning big playoff games. He let his wife stray to give him favorable paternal rights (how else could father get paternal rights when he's absent from home half the year from October to June?)
So good job Jim, for dumping the girl and making her to blame. For a guy who had not effectively retired (like other HOF veterans of his era) it is kind of amazing he was able to pull this off.
