A nice read from Huffpost Sports:

"Moreover, it averages a stellar 18.9 assists per game, consistently appeasing the basketball gods by making the extra pass."
WTF?
Seems out of date. They shed the boring label a few years ago.
It all depends on how you define the word "boring," but I think lots of people still apply that label to the Spurs, which is fine by me. They don't have a guy who provides provocative quotes to the media, they don't have trash-talkers, and their newest star Kawhi is similar to their veteran star Tim in that he doesn't seem especially interested in self promotion or doing interviews. After an OKC game, the media has Russell Westbrook wearing a sleeveless print shirt, capri pants, and fake eyeglasses with bright red frames, sneering at journalists-- it's a much easier piece of entertainment to present to the public than a soft spoken Kawhi or LaMarcus talking about defensive focus...

The basketball gods have constantly favored team play as a tenet. I see no problems.
This team is definitely more boring than the 2013-2014 team.
Ok, but they no longer have the reputation.
Agree.
But I have never found the Spurs boring. I enjoyed the more defensive years and the beautiful game as well.
But people still, even with the change of pace, call them boring. They just don't have some Lebron or some Westbrook super super athlete dunking around, or a Curry redefining what bad or good shots are.
Remember when the team didn't dunk at all!? And if the rare dunk occurred, all of ST was in awe. "OMG Blair dunked! He's gonna get benched now"
We need more Danny Green dunks though.
They play a boring brand of basketball now.
On dunks, Simms and Kawhi are an upgrade over last rosters.
It's not about the show or wanting to watch exciting plays, but I'd like to see some lobs as a way to involve a player on offense when he's struggling with his shot.
I missed a bunch of games this year, but don't recall seeing the Duncan back screen on Kawhi's man for the alley oop. Do they still run it? I feel like LMA would be good to set the screen, as the big defending him would hesitate to switch onto the cutting Kawhi because of LMA's range.
Agree with you, that play between Kawhi and LMA would be nice.
Tonight the 1rst -or 2nd can't remember- Spurs play in the game was a Tim-Kawhi connection, I saw Tim throwing some lobs to Kawhi this season but without good screens from our bigs guys...It's not a Spurs favorite play so I'm not worried at all.
But without Gasol's rim protection, the Spurs should consider that alley-oops are an easy way to make points.
Good read!!
