I always thought from the minute they got together we were the perfect match for the heat when Lebron went there. So if thunderef in 2012 never happens do we 3-peat? I say a pretty good chance. The heat still were unsure after losing to Dallas and they were a nightmare matchup for okc. So we beat them that season they don't have the confidence to comeback in '13 then we send Lebron back to Cleveland after '14.

Great thread. We would've won in 12, probably. In 13, the Heat would've been motivated like we were in 14 had that occurred. Either way, I'd say two out of three would've been the most likely scenario.

Why can't people accept the Spurs just weren't good enough in the years we didn't win? I don't care if it was Manu's mental mistake in fouling Dirk or if it was a lucky shot from Derek Fisher or a mental collapse / choke job against the Heat. Those are all the things you don't do or give up if you are a Champion. Pop could have put a bigger defender in against Gary Payton or had Tim Duncan in on the 3 pointer by Ray Allen. It goes on and on.
"What if's" are loser talk. If the Spurs can't get by an over-hyped, sloppy and selfish OKC Thunder team, they aren't Champions. Period, end of story. It won't be the refs' fault. Just saying.
The 2015 version of the Spurs weren't good enough to beat the Clippers. TP was slowed by injuries and Tiago was too. Even if they got past LA, I don't think they had enough to go much further.
19 seasons with over 50 wins, yet 5 championships.

I think being a great team for so long yet not winning more les, added to all the "almosts" and injuries makes it this way.
If the Spurs had gone through 3 rebuildings to win 5 championships it probably wouldn't be this way.

Just a thought I have no problem with the team or their many accomplishment. And a timekeeper starting the clock late and refs raping a team have nothing to do with how good they are. Interesting to look back at how close though and what kind of crazy run they've been on.

I Hear ya Horse.... everyone laughed at my department where I worked at and I said we are gonna win the le one year, just watch when I said that in 1997 these ers laughed ....
.....in 1999 the band wagons were wearing NBA Champs gear and called them out i called them Iscariots.....that why I say they are alot of T-shirt Spurs fans out there these ers will never know a 21-61 season....sitting in the nosebleeds while you have a head wearing a Celtics Lakers or Bulls item next to you.

Another great point that's why it's bull when they say phil or even auerbach are better than Pop. let's see them build a team and reload to 5 les in that market in a place wherer no one wanted to play, a team that joe jerkoff didn't wanna watch and stern trying to screw them year after year.
