reliable 3rd option / liability on the court aren't mutually exclusive.
Tony Parker has been an enigma ever since the start of our championship run and we've come to expect little to nothing from him. He has games where he looks like an all star again followed by a string of no-shows and poor performances. Which Tony Parker do you think Spurs will get this series?

The one thing that's for certain about Parker's performance in this series - if you read the comments here, it will sound like people are watching different games.
I'm starting to give up on him. Hopefully he proves me wrong this series.
He'll have one good game probably then a bunch of no shows, followed by sulking, then quiting at halftime in game 6 of a close out game
Look, he's not expected to outplay WB. He can't. Spurs just need him to control pace, keep TO's down and get guys into spot efficiently.
Spurs need him to battle on defense too (which TP always gives effort there). Him providing some hard fought minutes before Pop hides him would be a tremendous boost to SA. If he can get that mid range going that would be massive as well. I expect him to fight hard and hope he just conducts things smoothly.
The same one we've gotten all season, but more so in the back half. He doesn't have another gear that he can sustain at this point. They'll be the inevitable flashes of turning back the clock followed by the inevitable flashes of him looking just about done.
As cliche and trite as it sounds, I just hope he plays aggressively, especially to start games. The starting lineups offense is at its best when he is and though they might survive the Thunder if the slow starts continue, they won't survive the Warriors.
Tony goes for 21 points tonight
I bet we'll get prime time TP for the first two games.
The real question is what happens after that . . .
Phil Jackson and Scott Brooks both adjusted after Game 2 (in different ways) to slow Tony down.
Will Billy Donovan?
I tend to think so. If he's a reliable third option he's earning his minutes and deserves to be out there.
OKC wasn't a good matchup for him in 2014, so 2016 shouldn't be any different.
I agree 100% that the first game (maybe 2 games) we'll see vintage Tony but I worry what we get after that. He has a history of shrinking after a throwback Game 1.
More shots blocked then field goals made.
Number 9 Tony Parker...The one that plays for the SA Spurs......French TP9
His pattern this year has been to defer to the Big 2 and to pass up relatively standard shots for him. Then in the second half he begins to realize he has to take up some of the scoring slack and he gets his points. It's hard for him to drive into the paint and score like he used to with LMA keeping so close to the lane that his man can rotate off to guard Tony.
But if he can't average at least 10-15 points a game to complement LMA and Kwahi, we will probably lose the series.
He will have good games and bad games..... Just like he has all season. It's a tough matchup. You guys will overreact to each performance. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
We're gonna get the one that turns the ball over trying to do too much while getting raped on defense. I no longer blame him though, I blame popovich. And if he is really gonna let him play for 20 years here getting killed nightly, we're gonna have to start boycotting games
Tony was awesome tonight... Exactly what I wanted to see from him.

Parker had a wide-open jumper and stopped his shooting motion to pass to Aldridge. I don't know if I've ever seen him do that before. I hope it's the beginning of a trend. Parker's healthy enough to penetrate if they need him to, but if he passes the ball like he did, he probably won't have to do it much.
And then coming back from the injury in Game 6 to lead the Spurs in scoring in the Finals for another le.
With Tony...you take it one game at a time. Tony did good last game...but, wasn't great. 12 assists, 2 points. Good.
If he can keep getting the assists, I'll be happy. Inconsistency is my biggest fear.
All star floor general
23 assists and 2 turnovers in the series so far
Not bad ....
