Pop played him more time cause his length was disrupting Durant's shot. Never mind his scoring, but one of his main knocks coming out of college was his speed and inability to play d. Very encouraging.

Durant should be glad that after this series he will only have to deal with Kyle's D in practice.

Nope. Kyle has no business in NBA. Unbelievable that he's still with team.

    They should.

I've said before his defense will be key to guard Livingston post-ups instead of Patty/Manu...Tonight he was really good vs OKC...

It'll take a lot more games to convince me but this is a good start. Anderson still has no offense other than low percentage long fade-away 2's. His defense on Durant was surprisingly decent though.

Anderson is the future of the spurs. I expect him to contribute as much as George Hill has to Indiana

The first time he came into the game, he looked like a deer in the headlights. I'm assuming that's why Pop pulled him after something like 37 seconds. When he got in the second time, the Thunder were s -shocked. I don't want to take anything away from him - he played some good D. I'm not sure anyone should adopt a whole new outlook based on one game though. As long as he's solid on defense, I'm sure he'll get his share of minutes, but defending Durant for a 7 game series is a tall order. I hope he can keep it up.

Pop trusts him and that's saying a lot.

He played great defense on Durant tonight. There was one possession that his defense was lock down on Durant, like everything was so good with moving his feet, amount of space he gave him and contesting the shot. Textbook defense. I always thought his defense wasn’t as bad going back to his rookie season as his length helps him a lot. He needs to work on that floater though, that five foot floater was flatter than the only Asian girl I banged s, it was terrible (Not the s, the floater ) This offseason he needs to put some work in with his offensive game. If he does that he will be a solid off the bench player for the Spurs.

Nah the first quarter he was benched quickly but it was bc matchups. As soon as Durant checked back in to close the Q, Pop wanted Danny back in the game to guard him. It made perfect sense as he's the experienced guy and Kawhi had two early quick fouls. In the second quarter Pop felt comfortable with a lineup of Kyle guarding Durant and Danny on Russ for a while, then Kawhi. Kyle held his own, and LMA and Kawhi stayed hot so OKC deficit continued or got worse. You have to give credit where it's due GSH.

Had he stunk it up you and others would for sure mention it, so you can't take that away from him.

I'm on major antihistamines and cough stuff, so maybe I missed something. So help me understand. Pop first put in Anderson when Kawhi picked up his second foul. Durant was out, but Westbrook was in. Then, 37 seconds later, Pop pulled Kyle. Yeah, Durant came into the game, but Westbrook left at the same time. And you're saying it was because of matchups? Isn't Kyle on Durant the matchup everyone is crowing about? So does Durant get easier for Kyle to guard when Westbrook is in at the same time? If Pop was fine with Anderson guarding Durant when Green was guarding Westbrook, whey wouldn't he be fine with Anderson guarding Durant with Patty guarding Cameron Payne? I just don't get what you're saying.

Look, I thought I gave Kyle credit for playing good D, both here and in the game thread. I was just responding to the OP suggesting that people totally change their opinion of a player based on one game. Maybe it's the drugs, but I still think that makes sense. Even you have to admit that defending a guy in the middle of an avalanche, when he's not having a good night, probably doesn't tell you much. If Durant torches Kyle in the next game, it won't mean Kyle sucks - Durant is one of the best scorers in the league. I think that for people to act like Kyle Anderson single-handedly shut down Kevin Durant is a bit over the top. Especially if the expectation is that he's likely to do it for a whole series. If he does that, then he really has developed into one of the best defenders in the league.
