    It's not unprecedented.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers have an old score to settle.

Prior to their regular season game Wednesday, the two teams must play three seconds of an earlier game that does not yet exist in the record books because of a mis-ruling over a fake free throw by Laker Norm Nixon.
The game, which was played Nov. 30, ended in a double overtime victory for the Lakers. But the Spurs protested and the score will be settled with just three seconds left on the clock.
Leading 116-113 with four seconds left, the Spurs fouled Nixon, who made his first free shot, cutting the lead to 116-114. But Nixon faked the second free shot. The ball never left his hand, but both teams poured into the lane for the non-existent rebound.
The referees called a double lane foul and a jump ball. The Lakers won the jump, scored and tied the game 116-116. By the end of double overtime, the Lakers took the game 137-132.

Spurs got the ball and a good look for Patty. After that show to start the 4th, I don't trust post-2014 Pop to draw up a better look than that tbh

Why would you want to protest Ginobli stepping over the line? Technical foul, Durant hits it and Thunder ball again. Doesn't seem like that helps the Spurs.

This is an example of a misappropriated rule. Not a missed foul call. The NBA will not overturn a game result based on a missed foul call. If they did, basically every Playoff game would be at risk of protest.

Let it go. It sucks, but it's done.

Bingo. The league is gonna review the tape, see that Manu stepped over the line before Waiters pushed off, see that Green fouled Durant on the inbounds catch, and gonna let it all stand as one big fat non-call.

Spurs could've avoided the whole situation if they could've hit the broad side of a barn in the first quarter.
