I just downloaded a copy of game 2 of the 95 WCF, and this moron jacked-up three three-pointers in the first quarter alone. What a dumbass. First one the Spurs are on a fast break and Rodman just throws that crap up, second there's 5 seconds left on the shot clock so what does he do? Shoot a three from the baseline with Olajuwon contesting his shot. Then, near the end of the quarter the Spurs get a rare offensive board and he jacks up another not even close piece of crap from 2 feet outside the line at the top of the circle. I forgot just how much of a liability this idiot was.

Dude, they showed that game on NBA classics, and I had hte same reaction. Remember at the start of the 3rd when they show his season total 3pt fg's and his GAME's total 3pt fg's???? He jacked up 2 more than he did ALL SEASON

The spurs could have won that game too. I think he was on the take.

I have NEVER forgotten that weak Rodman crap. Remember that season? I believe the Spurs went on their normal April run and won 16 or so in a row. Rodman was injured in a motorcycle accident and did not play in any of those games. When questioned, Rodman said he did that on purpose to let the team know they could win without him...What a jerk!

I remember that, in 1995, the blackout rules didn't allow any local broadcasts and that the Spurs games were on locally only by pay per view. That lasted through the first 2 games of the WCF. I didn't have tickets to Game 2, so I strapped on my Walkman and went out to listen as I mowed the lawn. I knew things were bad when Jay Howard ran out of explanations for Rodman's decision-making and was just short of cursing on the radio. That lawn looked like crap, because everytime the Rockets would overcome a Spurs run and push the lead out a bit, I kept thinking back to Rodman's 3's in the 1st Quarter.

Clearly, Rodman didn't single-handedly lose that game for the Spurs, but giving away possessions with those 3's didn't help.

I do remember Rodman bailing the spurs out of the first round when DRob went something like 2-27 from the field.

Rodman is the most overrated player in spurs history period.

Yeah... that was a great investment of $50 back then. you, Rogers Cable. I was in shock when I moved to Houston and found out they actually televised home games for free there instead of charging $30 a pop like ing Rogers and Paragon.

I don't have the exact numbers (but will get them before the end of today), but I have some serious doubts about that recollection. Rodman was good in the First Round series against Denver that year -- he had at least a couple of double-doubles and (I think) had a 20 point game.

I'll check and get back to you.

I was more annoyed about Rodman hanging out under the basket looking for rebounds while Robert Horry hit uncontested jump shots.

Just want a little balance in the conversation. Rodman was destructive, but I think Elliott's missed free-throws cost the spurs the Houston Series more than anything else.

Plus, it was glaring that DRob lacked a reliable inside post game.

Also, it didn't help that Bob Hill never stressed defense.

The Spurs won the first round 3-0 against the Nuggets. They didn't exactly need bailing out. Besides, anything good he did was pretty much erased when he hurt the team when they most needed him.

We can blame everyone in the world, but IMO with as great as DRob was the spurs don't win anything without TIMMY.

Far from being a Drob hater. I don't have blinders on either. Just like Horry bailed out Duncan in game 5 against detroit.

not hate, it's the truth. BTW, Timmy is the best. Big Dave maybe the best human being ever to play in the NBA and a top 10 center of all time.

but you have all the answers so whatever you say.

David looked like crap in that game too... but I guess Rosen's critique of David really pissed me off, when he was going off on how valuable Rodman was and how Robinson was such a disappointment to Rodman. Say what you want about David, but I've never seen him make the I don't give a plays Rodman did. I loved the way Rodman wouldn't pick up Horry on the break also.

But Rodman played fantastic against a 1 legged PF in the first round and should be excused from any further critique, and all blame should be put on Robinson.

    Duh.

Wow. You consider him overrated. There are few people who can rebound like Rodman and he also plays defense.
