If there is a team that can knock San Antonio off it is Detroit. I think they are going to return to the finals next year now that Rasheed lost 20 lbs and is in shape. Their bench has also improved with the additions of Maurice Evans and Dale Davis.
Over the next few days I will make some team assessments, where you say your thoughts on the team's moves and what you think of their future.
The Detroit Pistons won a championship in 2004, and came within a game of winning it again in 2005. How do you think they will do this year?
Points to consider:
- Hiring of Coach Flip Saunders
- Promising more playing time for Darko Milicic

What's funny about that? I heard it from a piston fan.
I heard an unbiased Pacer fan say that each individual starter on his team was better than each corresponding starter for the Spurs. Does that make it true? It figures that a Piston fan would suggest that the Pistons would have won if only Rasheed had been in good condition. If Jermaine O'Neal hadn't kneed Shaq in the thigh the Pistons would have watched the Finals on TV.
The injury card is a useless argument.
Just like the "my guy was out of shape" argument.
It ain't just a river in Egypt, is it?
Yeah but resting the season before this because of plantarfasciitis or whatever caused him to get out of shape. Now that was an excuse but I feel you will see an improved Rasheed this year. Not that he was the reason Detroit loss but I think that will give Detroit a boost.
The "in shape" argument is useless also...he was in shape during the playoffs.
