So a sustained US minimum wage will stop manufacturing jobs from being replaced by robots in China?

US workers already could not compete with Chinese workers making $3 per day.....what makes robots efficient is that they don't take time off......that makes them ideal for manufacturing jobs, transportation et al. that can be done 24 hrs per day.....for instance, driver-less trucks are going to forever change goods transportation and eventually lead to lower costs for consumers....it's more efficient...

.......and no need for all those pesky truck stops either....ironically, one thing robots aren't very good at is pumping gas or we would have that already...I mean, who likes to pump gas right?) but eventually I imagine that drivers less trucks will just pull up to pumps and self pump....

The whole transportation industry will change. Drones will replace the UPS, Fedex, DHL, etc. The driverless cars the big companies are investing in will replace cabs, shuttles, uber (as we know it now). Robots will probably replace workers who take care of old people.

IMO...One of the biggest markets for robots outside of manufacturing will be people having robots for companionship...some even intimate...

So what does that lead to? Us wiping out our species by not reproducing?

No....but it does lead to many ethical questions about robots...and sex, or human intimacy with robots...

I bet the Chinese jobs being replaced by robots are extremely simple tasks, such that a "robot" which is nothing more than a cheap-ish short-range, light-load, 2-axis picker/positioner, rather than a $10Ks+ multi-axis long-reach, heavy-lifter robot.

like i said, u pull out all the manufacturing jobs in china, and they got nothing to fall back on to offer the world, they can still undercut but not everyone is going to work for free..
