Game 7 of the NBA Finals lived up to the hype, especially in terms of viewership for ABC.
The Cleveland Cavaliers thrilling 93-89 win over the Golden State Warriors brought in 30.8 million viewers on Sunday night, the network said.
The telecast peaked with 44.5 million viewers from 10:30 pm to 10:40 pm ET when the Cavaliers wrapped up the victory.
This makes the much anticipated showdown the most watched NBA game since 1998 when Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls beat the Utah Jazz.
Market sizes really dont matter, TBH.

Seven years later and Suns fan is still on here trying to smack about anything other than winning basketball games. Time to let the obsession go, dude.

The Warriors aren't a small market team. The Bay Area is the sixth biggest TV market in the US.

Also, all those laker-turned-heat-turned-thunder-turned warriors fans in SoCal live in the 2nd largest TV market. Plenty of ratings to go around for this one.

    Why all the personal attacks?

Not really warranted. Just pointing out the facts.

But by that logic, the Knicks/Spurs should have been highest rated finals.

    Was it?

You are deflecting take your loss. You implied the Bay Area is a small market and was obviously proven wrong.

    Nonsense.

They just had highest ratings in 20 years when much bigger markets have scored smaller numbers.

And Cleveland isnt a huge market.

So you guys still think market sizes matter?

I'm sure games 6 and 7 of the 2013 finals must have done well on the ratings too, tbh.

Absolutely. People actually liked the Spurs during the beautiful game era(at least when they were playing LBJ) Sure a lot of those people were GS fans last night

Lebron and Curry are two of the most heavily marketed NBA players. That's why.

The Warriors are in among the largest markets in the country and have a player that's been a big star since he was lighting up March Madness, let alone winning NBA MVP's. The Cavs are technically in a small market but have the most popular player of the last decade and one of the most popular of all-time plus they are the only team in a very large state.

A small market NBA Finals without star power would be the Jazz, Kings or Pelicans playing the Bucks, Hornets or Pacers in some combination.
