What's the over/under on how many times we'll see/hear/read that the Spurs "did it again" by drafting yet another diamond in the rough ... he'll be a great fit ... prototypical Spur ... outstanding value pick ... was projected as a lottery pick ... how do Pop and RC do it?
Lot out of people on here want Thon Maker. Pretty sure he's at least 21, and could be as old as 24. I'll pass.

a 24-year-old man getting praise for dominating high-school kids. Even worse than the Jordan Shipley hype.
That means he could have been a 23 year old high schooler.
Thon could have made it to the NBA even being 23 because of his potential. Lying won't get you nowhere. Will be interesting to see if the allegations were true.
Being that dominant over people the same age as you is worth a lot more money than dominating people five years younger than you. Lying could have gotten him a load more money. If he's a decent player, his contract will be the same whether he lies or not.

It's speculation and hearsay.
Why? I said this in another thread, but there are questions about Ibaka and Biyombo's age. Being born in the Sudan or the Congo isn't like being born into a country like America where there are stringent laws about reporting population. Maker relocated to Australia when he was 5, or supposedly 5, to escape civil war. That is the first do entation of his age. He probably lived a portion of his life thinking he is younger than he actually is. It's not like he was thinking he was going to play in the NBA when he escaped war torn Sudan.

If he's any good, this exactly the kind of scenario I asked about in another draft thread about why great college players don't slide in the draft like they do in the NFL. If "Thon" is a great talent, then he could be the Spurs' equivalent of drafting a Randy Moss or Warren Sapp late in the 1st round.
'Cause he sucks. It was already a strike against him because he was playing against high-schoolers. Now we find out he's a grown-assed man? It's obscene. Again, he's no better than Ryan Richards was back in the day. At least Richards was playing against people his own age.
