It's given to the states how they choose their electors reps and senators within cons utional guidelines. Some state likely will eventually do it. I would rather see the single member district changed first but its a worthwhile idea.
"Terroristic" hacking and purposeful voter suppression (on both sides) withstanding, is there any legitimate reasoning why we couldnt establish an internet based voting platform that brought the booth to your library, school or home? Additionally, the "virtual voting apparatus" could streamline and centralize voter registration paperwork while serving as a universal portal for ballots cast early, for generating population statistics for yours or anyone's (likely gerrymandered) district, and for establishing a "neutral" (in theory) information hub for each and every candidate running for office.

Isn't that how Yao Ming got more NBA votes by far?
And the only way Kirby Bryant made all star rosters?
How would you weed out bogus voting?
That wasn't bogus voting though, those players were voted in because more people voted for them.
