Google Fiber may go wireless for LA and Chicago launches

    http://www.theverge.com/2016/8/15/12492890/google-fiber-wireless-plans-la-chicago-dallas

If Austin and SA municipally owned utility companies wanted to provide Internet access over their extensive fiber networks, the "free market" TX Repugs have them blocked, to protect their paymasters at TWC, etc.

BigCorp s over America, yet again

High-speed wireless network are everywhere, but the U.S. is way behind on data speeds

And while the networks are in place around the world, the situation in data speeds isn't nearly as rosy.

Measurements of overall speed across 3G and 4G networks shows usual suspects South Korea and Singapore at the top of the charts, averaging 41 and 31 mbps downloads, respectively.

Things trail off quickly, though, with the U.S. averaging download speeds of just 12 mbps — 38th place worldwide, according to the data.

Most of South America averages under 10 mbps, while most European countries are in the mid teens or low 20's of mbps in download speeds.

It's not a conspiracy, Bookaki. Sometimes it isn't good to be the first with technology. US has a lot of sunk investment in dated technology while developing countries get to start fresh with the latest technology. China will pass the US in wireless 4G because they never had the massive investment in hard wired infrastructure holding them back.

Other industrial countries didn't start from "green fields".

US BigCable would rather merge into monopolies and/or do stock buybacks to enrich mgmt and investors, rather the invest in their networks (or customer service).
