Spurs are really doing their due diligence. Richards seems like a long shot to ever land in the NBA. We'll see how he has developed.
Should be a compe ive and informative training camp this year.
Oh boy, this should be comical.
How many people Spurs have for camp? 43?
I wish I could get one those contracts too. I'd cheer very hard.
They're going to have 4 full court games running in training camp.
I'm afraid he's going to injure one of the Spurs' players.
I wonder if he's forcing his way onto the team or if the team actually has a plan for him? A center with three-point range would have the inside track to the 15th spot, I believe. But Richards has been straight-horrible for years and years.
The Spurs have 19 in camp. They should be looking for one more. You'd like to have four units so you can break into separate teams or have two scrimmages at once.
Parker, Mills, Laprovittola, Arcidiacono
Green, Ginobili, Murray, Forbes
Leonard, Simmons, Garino
Aldridge, Anderson, Bertans, Jean-Charles
Gasol, Dedmon, Lee, Richards
So they need another front-court guy. If they intend to play Lee at the four, then another center would be great. If they want to have a rotation similar to what I already have, then a wing would also make sense.
To keep going with this thread, yesterday was the deadline for teams to tender their second-rounders. So that's why I'm assuming that happened now. So if it's a one-year deal, it's like just Richards forcing his way onto the team. However, if it is a two-year deal, then it would obviously be some negotiation on the part of the Spurs. And if there's any guaranteed money involved, it just thickens the plot further.
That's some nice info. Thanks.
How did they ever find him to sign a contract?
Wasn't he last playing in the Ruritanian B league?
Ryan Richards sucks tremendous in summer league games. Are they doing this to just be nice? s.
This news caught me by suprise. My guess is he forced the spurs hand on it but i could be wrong. Interesting ....
Gasol/Dedmon
Aldridge/Richards
Thats a solid ass lineup..
not surprising tbh....................... richards play in the tournament proved he is nba starter material.....................

D-league salary might be a goal for him?
April fools joke?!
I don't know what to make of this kid.
He was in tears when he was drafted by the Spurs.
Young dude with a nice touch.
Yet it the last five years, he can't even get a spot playing for a European or even an East Asian professional team. He's been playing in really backwater leagues in the Middle-east. He also can't seem to stick with a team for longer than a few months.
Has he even played in a summer league? If not, then why not?
He might just be a head case in a similar way that another player with his style of play (Lamar Odom) was a head case.
Guys like 25 already.. I hope he pans out. Be nice to have another stretch 5/4
