Yeah if they could handle Lebron's Heat, Cleveland is a weaker version.
Mavs in 6 IMO.

Marion will shut down James in the Finals...![]()
2011 Dirk getting to abuse Kevin Love 40 minutes a night
Mavs in 4 or 5.
2011 Mavs match up extremely well with the 2016 Cavs tbh. Kidd to cover Irving, Dirk/TC destroying Love/Thompson, and Marion for Lebron, on top of the overwhelming coaching advantage. Couldn't see it going past 5 games.
Cavs in 5. This isn't 2011 LeBron, it's LeGOAT in his peak, and he wouldn't let the Cavs lose to anyone.
People really underrate the 2011 Mavs, even the Mav fans.
I am not sure TBH. I actually think TT is good defender to make a Dirk player. And Love can guard Chandler well enough. I think the Mavs struggle with the boards here if Love gets to stay on the court by marking Chandler. And this Lebron is better focused and less scared than the Lebron the 11 mavs faced.
I am not a fan by ANY means but my God that team went on a roll. The 11 Mavs and Spurs were on another level in the playoffs IMO, one that I had not seen in a good while. I would put those two teams up against a lot of le teams personally and like my chances.........
That 11 Mavs team seemed like the ultimate team of destiny. The only other teams I have seen that seemed to grind out every close game like that were the 99 Spurs and the 00-02 Lakers. Dirk was unbelievable that postseason and no one was scoring on Chandler at the hoop at the end of those games. They're such an underappreciated team by most NBA fans but I think they're right there with the 14 Spurs and 16 Warriors for the top team of the decade.
Match ups really favour the Mavs. The bench plays a lesser role in the playoffs, especially in the course of one series, but it does make an impact, and the Mavs bench is quite a bit better than the Cavs bench. Tristan Thompson was really cleaning up the offensive boards vs. the GSW, averaging almost 4 per game. With a player like Chandler on the Mavs, I doubt Thompson can put up those siimilar numbers. Chandler, with his quick lateral quickness, is also perfect to stop the Cavs pick and roll and iso ball offense. Marion can guard Lebron to some degree (AI level), Kidd and Terry can neutralize Irving some what, and Deshawn Stevenson matches up with Jefferson well.
Of course, Lebron can go supernova and carry the Cavs more on his back, and Irving can get hot here and there, but overall, the Mavs should have a better chance.
Finally, Carlisle will run circles around Lue, especially after a couple of games when Carlisle can figure out some loophole he can exploit. I'd say Mavs in 5 or 6.
2011 Miami also has become underrated.... the Big 3 were all in their prime although the role players sucked... this team would've won a le if not for their epic chokejob in Game 2. Dallas didn't beat no pushover team, and they were part of the reason Lebron played so poorly.
2016 Cavs were one of the weakest champions in recent history, tbh..very fluky..
2011 Mavs in 5 if they have homecourt. 6 if they dont.
- Dirk is going to get love or Frye out of the game.
- Shumpert won't be able to do anything against peak Jason Terry. That dude moved without the ball so good tbh. Real clutch three .
- Tyson Chandler is keh here. Kyrie wont have a good series with TC as a center.
If Bogut stay upright they lose. He goes out, Warriors lose 3 straight.
No Ray Allen, no Shane Battier, no Birdman and the Big 3 hadn't quite jelled all the way yet. The 2011 Heat were not as good as the '12 and '13 versions.
