Dem establishment, I'm not making excuses, was in a no-win position. Keep supporting unpopular, "crooked" Dem Hillary (which looked like a no-brainer until last night, "everybody", including Repugs, said), or go with non-Dem "most popular politician" Bernie.

As I said in the other thread, hopefully the Dems remember this ass-kicking and remake the party around the Sanders crowd.

Obama managed to navigate the thin line between making slow, incremental change and advancing corporate interests by being charismatic and scandal-free. Hillary is 10X the corporate and would have left a Dubya-type stain on the brand. Better to put Trump + GOP on the spot for 4 years and see if they can fulfill even half of the ridiculous promises he made. Reload the grassroots org and try to win over the working class.

I think Michigan will become the new Ohio, at least for Dems. And they really should have a system where states that didn't vote for Dems the last cycle get fewer delegates and then even fewer for each repeated loss. And then do something similar for wins, except only reward it to a point. If you have the delegation disproportionately made up of swing-state delegates, you'd get a better GenEl candidate.

And for the love of ing god, get rid of superdelegates.

Trash's base will still be revolting when they realize the Repugs will make their lives worse, not better, over the next 4 or 8 years, just as the Repugs have for the past 40 years.

I have a feeling that Trump is not going to be as socially conservative as many Republicans hope. All candidates make ridiculous promises.

Trash doesn't give a about anything but his sicko ego and his wealth.

He'll do whatever the Repugs tell him to do, a Useful Idiot just like dubya.

It's hilarious that people say their is a huge chasm between Trash and the Repug establishment, that he has destroyed the Repug party. It's all bull .

She's certainly an option, although she'll be 71 by then. Mic e Obama ticks all the boxes, but reportedly doesn't want it. Cuomo (NY Gov), Booker (D-NJ) are corporate stooges. Could be a dark horse like Tulsi Gabbard, or someone with executive experience like the Colorado governor

Oh I agree - he's not going to go all Mike Pence on social issues. I'm more interested in his other domestic policies. He managed to give simplistic answers (35% tax on Chinese imports, renegotiate trade deals, build the wall, replace Obamacare with health savings accounts and cross-state insurance while covering poor people etc) to very complex problems. None of those things is practical though, and if he is the vehicle to get people to understand the challenges better, so be it

We'll see. He's going to get his chance just like Obama. I didn't vote for Obama but when he won, I had sincere hope that he would make things better. I'll be the same with Trump.
Unlike yourself who just likes to wallow in negativity.

With all your VRWC and , I can't believe you would have wanted Hillary to win. She's in bed with the same BigCorp, BigPharma, BigAg as Bush was.

And I agree with you. I hope that he surrounds himself with experts in all these areas. My fear is that he's not going to listen to them.

"get his chance just like Obama"

Except for ACA, Obama didn't get chance. He was obstructed for 8 years, and all his good stuff by Exec Order will be cancelled by the the Repugs.

Obama inherited The Banksters Great Depression, the Repugs botched, bull GWOT, a ed up Middle East for BigOil, and didn't have Congress or SCOTUS on his side.

The Repugs' "chances" now are much better. They will Trash's voters hard and deep.

I know you're supposed to be from France and all... but he had a Democrat House AND Senate for his first two ing years. And he pissed it away. And he pissed on so many people that, yes, they pissed right back after taking the House. Guinea pigs and Barack Obama - the only two creatures that will in their own supper dish.

But, yeah, virtually ALL of his heavy-handed executive order bull will get cancelled.

    I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!!

"he had a Democrat House AND Senate for his first two ing years"

Obama didn't have 60 in the Senate, Lieberman was independent, and blocked public option,

the Dems get some stuff done, with almost total absence of the Repugs

    "
The 111th Congress had the most experienced members in history: at the start of the 111th Congress, the average member of the House had served 10.3 years, while the average Senator had served 13.4 years.[6]

This Congress has been considered one of the most productive Congresses in history in terms of legislation passed since the
89th Congress, during Lyndon Johnson'sGreat Society.["

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/111th_...or_legislation

112th, etc REPUG Congress accomplished almost nothing for the 99%, and obstructed Obama and the Dems.

The range of potential outcomes is scary. But I do believe there's a chance he can make things better. Unlike some on here, I'm not going to spend my energy hoping he fails.

He won't be, but we don't care. If social conservatism was that important anymore, Lyin' Ted would have been the nominee - and Hillary would be president-elect right now.

Oh, really? He didn't have a ing super-majority? You think? That's why he needed to work with the other side, instead of trying to be a steamroller. He lives in the same bubble you do.

OMG!!! Sorry I didn't put that in blue for you.

Tell yourself whatever you need to. I think Trump is a carnival barker, but I'm still going to laugh at people like you whining for the next four years, no matter what happens. Save up some of those tears, and we'll make margaritas.
