    Battle Blogs

Not only will this be an entertaining compe ion, but Battle Blogs will give Spurs fans a voice. The rules are simple but the stakes are high. For the Battle Blogger who finishes the Spurs season with the most victories, SpursTalk.com will pay a monetary prize. Also, the Battle Blogger who finishes with the highest winning percentage (minimum 20 victories) will receive monetary prize.

Here is basically how it will work (additional rules will be provided for those who decide to join):

    1) If you are interested in being a Battle Blogger, private message timvp and he will give you the needed permission to enter the Battle Blog forum.

    2) Compose a topic in the Battle Blog forum. You have 250 words to give your opinion on a topic. The topic must be one that has an opposing viewpoint.

    3) Another Battle Blogger must then come into that thread and indicate that they will take on the role of the opposing opinion. Once indicated, that person has 3 hours to post a rebuttal of no more than 250 words.

    4) The starter of that topic then has an addition 2 hours to post a retort of no more than 150 words.

    5) Finally, the concluding rebuttal is no more than 150 words.

After a battle is complete, the thread is then moved to the Battle Blog judges forum. There it will be voted upon who did a better job of backing up their argument. Once the judging is finalized, the thread (now in article format) will be presented in the main forum and on FullSportPress.com. Oftentimes, it will also be featured on WOAI.com.

If you are interested in becoming a Battle Blogger or a Battle Blog judge, please private message timvp.

NOTE: Although judges must stay anonymous, we would really, really appreciate you deciding to become a judge!

NOTE 2: Political Battle Bloggers welcome as well.

    How It Will Be Judged
-Factually based arguments. How well you backed your claims. Are your facts correct?
-Grammar and spelling. Try to spell words right and take a few minutes looking it over before you submit it.
-Presentation. Transitions, introductions and conclusions will be taken under account.
-Stay on the subject. Personal attacks are frowned upon.

The judges have been informed that how well a subject matter is argued (not the actual subject matter) should determine the outcome. In other words, a well written piece about how Vince Carter will win MVP can prevail … even if that isn’t a popular opinion.

    Time Limits
Though we’d like to enforce the time limits to make sure all blogs are completed in a timely manner, we won’t implement them to the point of disqualification as we start out. If it becomes a problem, then we’ll enforce the time restrictions more strictly.

    No.

And for the record, Guru of Nothing was the Battle Blog winner for the 2004-05 season.

If anyone wants to get involved in the new season, private message timvp for details before Nov 1.

    Any suggested topics?
Or is it anything from should the Spurs have hired a shooting coach to the old tried and true trade Rasho and slam Tony?
Perhaps a comparison between Tim's Spurs and Shaq and Kobe's Lakers?
    That sounds intriguing to me.
