- KL & LA shot 11/19 that's 58%
- the rest were 10/36 for a pretty ridiculous 28%, and they made their shots when the game was out of reach!
If Manu and Tony were not going to score and Since Patty, Pau, and Danny weren't scoring either. What was there left? He took the starters out to send a message to this team. Kawhi and LA will not carry you to the championship, it's going to be a team effort. Those other guys need to contribute. On a side note, Dejounte had his moments in this game. He played relentless defense, for the most part and he attacked the basket, with good and bad results, but that pass to Dedmon was really good, CP3 good.
Now let's hope our Spurs come back with some vengeance this Sat!
GO SPURS GO

Could have played LMA, Kawhi with Simmons, Anderson, Murray or Bertans...
Who are younger, developing players and did have it going on.
yeah, pulling the entire starting unit diluted the message; pop should have just removed dedmon, parker and green -and eventually patty while keeping LA and Leonard on the floor with dejonte, KA and simmons (or bertans). that would have been more of a "i'll bench anyone's ass that isn't getting the job done on either end of the floor" statement.
Not sure why our guys caved in the 3rd, but it's not the first time. I think Bertrans may have played himself into some relevant minutes. Make Z Bo run around chasing him.
I hope so. But I can't imagine pop playing a rookie in the playoffs.
You're re ed if you think benching the entire starting lineup 2 minutes into a quarter is the right thing. Especially in the ing playoffs. No excuse for that bull
Data: Spurs with 0 Chips after sweeping the first round.
Pop after looking at the said Data: Say no more, I got this.
#6 is basically guaranteed now. Thnx Pop.
I like this data and feel Pop was not bent or even wanting a sweep in the first round. He is playing the 'long game' and wants to see someone other than Kawhi and LMA step up for playoff basketball. He wouldn't have done this if we were down 0-2.

Not if you look at the real data.
I'm fine with Pop burning a game to send a "I want some nasty" to the starters, but it better work.
There's data out there that says this team had the most comeback wins this season .
Then there's pop who likes to teach in game lessons to a veteran laden team no matter the data or situation.
I must be old-school, but this made sense to me. The starters lacked energy, focus and cohesion in that 3rd qtr 90 seconds or so. They made stupid defensive errors and weren't playing hard. Compete 100% and execute the game plan or sit was the message. Fair enough!
What's with all the data lately?
We are 2-1 "Take That For Data!!"
Poop has **** for brains.
More data.
A Young coaches method
Game 3, Cavs v Pacers down 24 at 9min of the third. Tyrone Lue continued to show some faith in his starters.
Cavs win.
Pop used to say these spurs are grown men. Wonder what he feels they are now.
We didn't play well and they did and wanted it more than us. Pretty simple. And Z-Bo going off on us didn't help either.
Pop didn't bench the SL for their efficiency. He benched them because of the TOs and the points off TOs to start the third. Really, that was all Dedmon and Parker. Dedmon throw a poor inbounds pass that Tony couldn't handle. Tony stepped out of bounds trying to drive. Dedmon didn't think it was necessary to close out on Marc.
Pop benching everyone for what a couple of guys did sent no message. It just made it seem like he didn't know what was going on.
I suppose he didn't want to mess rotations but it was still a poor choice.
I still think Pop learned things in this loss about the Spurs "others". He might have learned these things anyways without throwing away the game though.
It also doesn't matter if he doesn't use the things he learned about his guys to make adjustments, so we shall see what he does about Lee vs Zbo for example.
It's a shame Dedmon has been playing so poor. He's costing himself money, but beyond that, Spurs need him to give some better minutes.
In Spurs history, we've never won a championship when we've swept or blitzed through the first round. We've always had 1st round adversity in ALL of our le runs.
This was mentioned earlier this thread and i had brought it up in another one. Its an interesting stat. Not that it has any real relevancy to this year since every year is different but theres gotta be something to having some adversity in the 1st round to helping form a championship team.
2014 first round certainly seem to help that spurs team. If anybody remembers, games 1-4 spurs just looked like they were sleep walking. Got lucky winning game 4. Then were a bit better 5 and 6 energy wise. But in 7 they just took off and never looked back
Bench the right ppl...kawhi shouldn't have been benched...what if we lose in a game 7? You play every game to win
Pops game of zones clip is dead on.
