If my ex-husband is anyone to go by, I'd respond with an emphatic "NO!"![]()

New Scientist"A synthetic chemical similar to the active ingredient in marijuana makes new cells grow in rat brains. What is more, in rats this cell growth appears to be linked with reducing anxiety and depression. The results suggest that marijuana, or its derivatives, could actually be good for the brain.
In mammals, new nerve cells are constantly being produced in a part of the brain called the hippocampus, which is associated with learning, memory, anxiety and depression. Other recreational drugs, such as alcohol, nicotine and cocaine, have been shown to suppress this new growth. Xia Zhang of the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Canada, and colleagues decided to see what effects a synthetic cannabinoid called HU210 had on rats' brains.
They found that giving rats high doses of HU210 twice a day for 10 days increased the rate of nerve cell formation, or neurogenesis, in the hippocampus by about 40%.
Just like Prozac?
A previous study showed that the antidepressant fluoxetine (Prozac) also increases new cell growth, and the results indicated that it was this cell growth that caused Prozac’s anti-anxiety effect. Zhang wondered whether this was also the case for the cannabinoid, and so he tested the rats for behavioural changes."
So, a synthetic chemical similar to the active ingredient in marijuana makes new cells grow in rat brains, but a seperate study quoted in the same article casts some doubt on the effects of natural THC on the rat brain. So I'm not sure if consuming Pot actually makes you smarter or not, but ummm..oh, ummm...never mind, I forgot what I was going to say.

Uh, ask me later.
if I've got to focus on something and meet a deadline.... pot is not the 1st illegal drug coming to mind to help facilitate that.
infact it;s not even in the top 5.
What was the question?![]()
I smoked it for 5 years back in "the day" and it definitely didn't facilitate my cognitive reasoning abilities.
After I quit (20+ years ago) I had some difficulty retaining information for a couple years after.

as someone who quit, cold turkey, after what turned out to my my last few puffs from the magic dragon, the night of august 25th,
i can say i'm smarter now than i've ever been in my life.
i do not regret the past as much as i've felt i've learned from all of my mistakes.
simply put, pot stunts growth.
people, myself included, use/used it for an escape from reality.
why escape? cuz one does not want to think about all the bringing them down.
stress, work, family pressures, whatever whatever, whatever...
solution? faith in a higher power than mary jane.
of course, if one's goal is to be a smart rat, who chases cheese their whole life,
then the article above might be a point of reference.

you know, let me share more,
that was the night i quit my job.
i went to mouse's to talk/post/smoke
and we sparked a joint he had given me the night before that i had yet to touch.
my mind was clear for the first time in my life.
when i smoked half that joint?
my mind became cloudy.
now, this used to be a good thing. cloud my mind, help me escape.
but now? i was escaping on my own.
all weed did was stunt my creativity.
for the 1st time in my life, I didn't like what weed did to my mind.
and that, is why i stopped.
not preaching, just sharing. to each their own...but Godbless.![]()
Are you still going to be Mouse's friend?
What happens when he offers you another one "for old times sake"?
Just asking.
bigzak25 smoked
then bigzak was like "meh..."
bigsac just lets people know he's conservative and doesnt smoke anymore
Looks like he was smart enough to leave you .![]()

Why? Because he couldn't keep a job? Yeah, thank God he was smart enough to figure out what all of his in the front yard meant and got out of there. I should have just thrown it all in a dumpster.

No he doesn't, mookie, he's usually at work. You know, that thing that makes us rich, white assholes?
If you're implying that he'd have to be stoned to be with me, I don't have him here at gun point.

i let people know what i think.
so do you.
if you want to judge, go for it. prepare to be judged yourself cowboy.
i am a wolf in sheeps clothing.
but i only attack in self defense. yes, i am like a fat jedi. recognize.
oh that's cool smeagol, mouse can blaze whenever he wants, it's a free country, and he will always be my friend. he's like a brother.
but my discipline is on another level, man. i'm way above the 'one for old times sake' temptations.
i'm human. i get tempted. but i have the power to resist.
seriously man, i'm trying to stop lusting?
do you know how hard that was/is?
to see women that i used to look at and have the will power to NOT LOOK?!
i'm doing it.
giving up weed and alcohol were easy.
i'm trying to set an example by actions, not words.
i want to be a father one day and i refuse to be anything but the BEST that I can be. for my future children, for me, for my wife, for my family, for my friends, and of course, for our God and His Son.

Lastly,
Spurswoman, just brush your shoulders off sister. Mouse thinks he has to be an asshole to be funny. He can't help himself sometimes. And i don't believe mookie meant any harm.
You are in a beautiful long term relationship with a MAN. From all you guys posts? It is obvious that the relationship is built on Love 1st. Yeah, you guys are sexual freaks, but LOVE trumps all.
You and your Man Chris know all this. Godbless you and family!![]()

I respect you very much, dude, especially after that driving stoned story from some months ago.
I hope you can succeed on the lust thing. God knows it is hard.
thanks man.
i just try to get stronger (of the mind) day by day.![]()
A married man should not be struggling with lust at all for love conquers that easily.
True love that is.
I wish you would have also, I am low on supplies.
Dam you have some strick rules, we could never get married.
Nothing wrong with being rich and a .
Is bigsac really the old bigzak? I know bigzak said he was gonna take a break from posting for awhile, and the new bigsac post more like MFD than Bigzak.

Strictly Haze for Dayz, people wonderin' why we so wired?: cuz we Astrotravellin'
that was my slogan when i was 18.
ROFL
Pot does definitely not make you smarter in the short term, or at least not for non-geniuses like me. But it does make you creative if you use it intensely after a period of not using it.
When you use it all the time it's just a crutch or an escape. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I like to escape the Bush Empire quite frequently.
