I spent last week in Kansas City. I'd been through there a few times in the past but never spent much time. It's a really nice city, at least the part I was in. The speedway is enormous. I'm surprised they haven't gotten an NBA team yet since there are several surrounding states that don't have one and it's a big sports town.

Anyone here have any experience with KC?

    I'm going to Kansas City
    Kansas City here I come
    they got some crazy
    little women there
and I going to get me one

While Wilbert Harrison recorded the famous version, it was Little Willie Littlejohn who recorded the original as KC Loving.

Big Joe Turner (huge influense on Eric Burdon) and Wynonnie Harris the kings of Kansas City "Jump Blues". Then there was Lottie Beamon the Queen of KC blues.

Always think of North Texas States Abner Haynes, the first "star" in the old AFL, he was a speedy RB for the Dallas Texans/Kansas City Chiefs.

You can talk about a fictious NBA team but I can't talk about a song that made KC famous and a real sports team in KC? That make any sense to you little guy?

Because of injury he was unable to play his senior season at SoU. So he went undrafted and unnoticed. The Chiefs signed him on as a free agent. Then Mack "The Truck" Lee Hill begin to put on the greatest display of power running ever seen. He averaged over 5 yards a carry....between the tackles. It was as if somebody had said something bad about his mama he ran with anger. He was a monster.

In his second season he would bang up a knee, he died on the operating table.

A few seasons before Hill the Chiefs draft Olympic sprinter/WR 20.6 Stone Johnson a RB out of Grambling (Chiefs big on HBCU athletes) dur to an injury in a preseason game.....he dies.

A few years after Hil, the Chiefs draft NWLa sprinter/RB Joe Delaney (NCAA 4x1 champ) he would gain over a 1000 yards as a rookie. In the off season before his second season............he drowns trying to save some kids, he couldn't swim.

Remember the movie M*A*S*H.....remember the football game? That speedy little guy running around was Nolan "Super Gnat" Smith a former Tenneesse State sprinter who was a great kick returner for the Chiefs.

Can't forget Chief Ernie "Big Cat" Ladd who was actually bigger in the pro rasslin' biz than he was in pro fotball

How does their BBQ compare with Central Texas or Memphis? Also how is the backpage talent there?

Ernie Ladd was really talented he could have the HoF if he stayed healthy. What are your thoughts on Len Dawson? Also top 10 chiefs running backs

He had the smoothest [play action pass] process I've ever seen.

Totally agree about Ladd, yep, a monster.

As ya know Dawson was cut by the Steelers (some NFL team) so he had as chip on his shoulder. He worked out of a moving pocket and was always surrounded by great players like Fred Arbansas the best TE in the AFL, he had the great Otis Taylor also and a huge OL.

Dawson was smart(Purdue) and knew how to read defenses, he had a good ball and rarely made the big mistake. He belongs in the HOF.(that's why he's there)

Top10 Chief RB' in my opinion.

    1.Christian "Nigerian Nightmare" Okoye Azusa Pacific....a 250pounder running a leg on a 4x1, what a sight.
    2.Priest Holmes Texas
    3.Jamaal Charles Texas
    4.Abner Haynes North Texas State
    5.Mike Garrett USC
    6.Larry Johnson Penn State
    7.Mack "The Truck" Lee Hill
    8.Tony Reed Colorado
9.Curtis McClinton Kansas State (first AFL player to score a TD vs an NFL team)
    10.Ed Podolak Iowa

Memphis BBQ is pretty damn good, and it depends on where you get it I suppose. Pork BBQ doesn't really compare with beef, not worse or better just different. I want local food when I am travelling, so it doesn't really stack up to what I can get in Austin.

    I don't understand "backpage"

Kansas City is pretty cool. One of the few cities in the Midwest that isn't a crime ridden hole. Nashville is really nice to. Memphis has the best bbq I've ever had even though the city itself is .

Memphis is my old stomping ground though. I still like the Tigers, was a Keith Lee fan, Baskerville Holmes, Midsouth Wrestling with Lawler, Dundee, Jackie Fargo, Tommy "Wildfire" Rich, Kabuke... Jimmy Hart

I love Nashville, I go there often.

Good buddy of mine relocated to Seattle a few years ago. Went there a couple of time in past few months. Don't think I'd go if he wasn't there tbh.

Just coming back from Chicago, I'll re-iterate that it's ing awesome.
