His agent came to SA first seeking 2x what Mills got paid. It would have also required dumping other guys to be under the cap to sign him. So they pivoted to Mills quickly.

Sacramento isn't landing any studs. They're paying $30mm to 37 year old ZBo and Hill. I like Hill, but not enough to blow up the team.

So think before you speak for once.

Poor George. He gets to pay 13% Cali income taxes too. Down to 49 million for him after California gets through with his paychecks.

It seems like anyone who sniffs the court is getting $10 mil plus; getting harder to tell what is a good and bad contract with this rapid jump.

Down to under $30 mil after the feds take their cut (for doing nothing).

He wanted 24 Mill per season? Seriously? Good gawd. That's why they are the Sacramento Kings. George Hill is a good, solid player but worth nowhere near what Sac is ponying up for him. If I'm not mistaken, he's never made All-NBA anything and has never been selected to the All Star team. He is also injury prone. But by all means, pay the guy 57 Million over three years. Go get that money!!

He wanted that type of money but it ended up not being there.

Right, but everyone gets to pay the feds.

Reports are he was asking for something significantly more from S.A. than what he got, but he's barely getting Patty money after the Franchise Tax Board takes its cut out in Cali.

Is that what that deal ends up being once all the taxes are taken out? 30M? Wow, that's a lot less than I thought. No wonder NBA players try and get what the can.

In Europe, don't they just announce the take home amount of the contract? NBA should do it that way.

Euro probably does that b/c their taxes are even higher, and people would always be talking about how their fascist governments are raping them.

This is also why I'm wondering why is it so hard for a team to bite on Aldridge. Is Millsap better than Aldridge?

No, I don't think Millsap is better. Aldridge was a really good player. I don't know what the happened to him. I'm really upset with what has happened with him. I just don't understand why he's been coming into camp out of shape. It all starts there.

This contract is why some of us didn't flip at Patty's deal.

I think Millsap is somewhat more desirable in today's NBA. You are right, LMA's weight issue is a red flag. If you can't get into good shape to join the Spurs for a le run, you are not very self-motivated. I think that only compounds the notion that he is an old-school, lumbering big - not the ideal in the league today. I am still hopeful that after tomorrow the Spurs will make a few good moves - including trading LMA.

Are you telling me that the Spurs and at least 20 other teams couldn't had offered more than OKC for PG13? Teams don't look for the best deal. I guess they do business with their close GM friends.

Could they have? Possibly. But you have to look at what happens in okc this year versus whatever spurs do this summer and reg season to judge the move. I hate aldridge and would have loved to send him and gasol to indy for pg. But would that net the best result long term for san antonio? What if aldridge and gasol play great this first half or whole year? A 1 yr rental would look silly then. Aggrivating as it may be long term success is better than 1 year of winning.

I like Dion Waiters. He's probably too expensive tho. Guess we don't need another guard. I just like his guts and determination (on the offensive end).

It's just that after what I saw in the WCF's, we sure could use a/some players who can get a bucket. Heck I was even thinking Nick Young.
