Foreign holders of US national debt are a minority of total debt, most of which is held within the USA
iow, America is owned by foreigners is a LIE, always from the rightwing, and/or from the oligarchy that hypes national debt alarmism as justification to cut govt spending, excepting both defense and huge tax cuts for the oligarchy. Tax cuts and tax avoidance/evasion being the greatest drivers of national debt.
There is no country that holds more money from foreigners than we do, it's not even close.
Again, another very important analysis of this says a government, especially a stable democracy, is less likely to default on obligations. This in an absolutely huge advantage to the wealth of this country.
Now if we just had a growing middle class; and somehow could convince money hoarders that in the long run the middle and lower class strength in jobs are beneficial to their goals.
Subjugation through excessive wealth does not end well historically speaking.
