No doubt the events were funded by rich people. The money just didn't go to individual protesters. That's not necessary when the media is advertising for it.
Yeah I saw the craiglist ad the day after and I remember certain groups pushing the paid protester thingy on twitter with the quote taken out of context. Not a far cry from the truth, but it's stuff like that which undermines the real story.
