it's not. but the pop/aldridge outcome wasn't exactly the 'spurs way' either. it may have even been something leonard took notice of.

The sense one gets is that Leonard isn't burning to leave town, but at 26, he realizes this is his best and last chance to look around, see what else is out there. And he sees other franchises that allow their superstars a certain, shall we say, leeway in determining how they'll handle their business. They bring friends into the organization, both formally and informally, to guide them and give them familiar faces with which they're comfortable with to travel and hang out with at home.
That is not the Spurs' Way.

They did the same with Timmy iirc, and Tony's brothers to a lesser extent. , they brought on some of their friends around the league (albeit they were legitimate impact players/personnel).
Welcome to Kawhi & his group . In a past season of firsts for a spurs player, next season should be just as interesting if Kawhi is back .![]()
If that's all he really wants, that would actually not be that bad. Spurs can actually accommodate that.
Bring back Cory Joseph, the Kawhi whisperer.
Perfect way to adjust and change ways and pitch to LeBron...
If Kawhi/PATFO fix their “issues” Spurs become a dark horse in the King sweepstakes...and as we know that will be a perk LeBron would want..
Time to “adjust the culture”..
How the did this go from an “injury” to “bringing in friends”?? Like.. wow. This is ridiculously all over the place. Means lots of lying took place, of course.
The uncle wants in? I don't see Leonard wanting to make business decisions tho who knows at this point?
You mean everything in the media wasn't true?![]()
Exactly. Now every scrub ass "sports journo" has the scoop...
if they can get him to sign on the dotted line im good with that
The NBA is one ed up workplace. Imagine 12 players and their “groups” all fighting to control things. What a zoo.
Wtf happened to just playing ball? His current max contract and possible supermax is "befitting of his status" and differentiates him from the rest of the players on the team. Sounds like his unc wants to go full blown Lavar Ball.
Basically doesnt want to benched when he is close to 30 pts. Poop.
yet can’t stay on the court even with his minutes limited.
Except im pretty sure he broke the record for most 30+ point games last season by a Spur, surpassing D-Rob. Try harder
It’s funny you keep seeing this “language” pop up. Turned down Jordan offer because the offer didn’t reflect his “status” in the league. Wants leeway benefitting his status. Hard to know what’s what, but man it’s odd.
He’s staying with SA though.
Certainly doesn’t sound like the Leonard we all know. Perhaps his uncle has meddled around way more than he should. Even Lavar wasn’t that cancerous.
In the last week he wants easier practices and buddies to hang with?
Taking seasons off can't help your status in the league too much I imagine.
Or maybe that’s the way he’s always been..except he stood in his place with #21 still around and now with #9 and #20 out the door he wants the keys to the castle...
It’s leverage any Top 5 player would want not named Duncan in a smaller market..I mean didn’t Duncan ask for the same thing during Orlando pitch to him???
Like the article said..Kawhi KNOWS he has the Lakers or other big markets by the balls..why not ask for the most you can get??
IMO there’s not much to think about..especially like I said if PATFO even want to consider kicking the tires on LeBron..
having a multi-season chronic injury hurts his prospects
