Tim's long gone, Manu's gone, Parker's soon to be gone and Kawussy is as good as gone. Aldridge will go somewhere else when his contract expires, no doubt. Popovich will retire soon to spend the rest of his widowed days drinking wine and making re ed political rants.

The Spurs will very soon be stuck with a bunch of average young players and scrubs long-term. The "leaders" of the team will be all the Eurotrash wasted on draft and stash players in Europe, most of which never came here or busted out when they did come here. They'll win 25-30 games per year for the foreseeable future, never enough for an impact top draft pick nor competing for a playoff berth.

Soon, very soon, the AT&T Center arena emptiness will become a HUGE thing, in a way it never has before, not just in a "early third quarter at Whataburger" kind of way. Ex-fans that were diehards during the 1991-2016 heyday will not show up. Attendance will drop well below pre-David Robinson figures. There will be empty seats all over the stadium, and dollar seats will become a thing just like the SA Missions games. Even with the dollar seats, there will be a lot of emptiness.

The bottom line: SA just isn't a good enough city to support a struggling franchise or team in today's generation. The priorities just aren't there for the culture of the town of SA (unlike, say, another small market team in OKC). The metro area isn't big enough, and the support for the team outside of the 210 area code is virtually nonexistent (unlike, say, another small market team like the Green Bay Packers of the NFL). 1999-2014 (really, 1991-2016) was an amazing run for the city and the franchise, but the song has been sung, the book has been written and it is time for it to be closed for good.

In order to do what's best in the name of business, revenue and common sense, this soon-to-be struggling franchise should strongly consider relocating sooner rather than later. It has been ten years since Seattle has lost their team, and that would be a terrific option for relocation, as that city has yearned for their return since 2008. Other viable options include potentially Kansas City, St. Louis, San Diego, or even Vegas who just had an extremely successful season with their first ever pro sports team (hockey). There are countless possibilities. Ultimately, this franchise, founded in Dallas in the early 1970s, should seek to start a new great chapter in its studded history, but first it should determine its third home town -- one better equipped and suited than San Antonio.

What makes you think they’re struggling? Just because Leonard might be gone doesn’t make them a struggling franchise. They got into the playoffs and took a game off of the warriors with guys like Forbes who probably shouldn’t be in a playoff rotation. The last time this team struggled this much without their star player, albeit under different cir stances they ended up creating a dynasty by drafting Duncan. Now I’m not saying that’s going to happen but there’s a chance of that happening. The point is people jump to conclusions so quickly without having hard facts. Kawhi could be traded tomorrow or he could resign with the spurs. You just don’t know. But the spurs aren’t struggling, they’re trying to figure out which direction they’re going to go in. Spurs fans I feel have no idea what struggling means. ( oh ! We barely made it to the playoffs without our star player. Time to blow it up and sell the team.)

Spurs ed up bigtime by not putting the att center downtown. Traffic sucks bigtime during events, and just ruins your experience. If it was downtown, 75% of people could just take bus since most busses pass through there. Theres no cool bars or restaurants close to the att center, but you can see crack heads walking by see some warehouses. No wonder kawhi wants out.... San Antonio is lame as if you have money to burn. The gov who runs this city want to make it as poor and ty as possible.

I was with you until your last few sentences.

Location choice was pretty poor, obviously downtown would be ideal, but even something on the northside would have been better than the current location. Its odd, because the stadium itself is quit ing nice, just location sucks. American Airlines Center in Dallas did it right. They are in a prime location right by DART, they have a plaza outside the stadium with bars, restaurants, etc. Makes for a great gameday experience.

Governors don't run cities you stupid . With that said, San Antonio is one of the fastest growing economies of major cities in the country. Trending upwards in population, median salary, job growth, gdp, etc. But keep pushing your false narrative I have only been here 5 years personally, but the city has made great leaps and bounds even since I moved here.

Your absolutely right about that. It's funny every time I have friends or family visit from out of town they love San Antonio.

Maybe the gots will get creative and come up with a new routine at some point. This one has gotten pretty tired and played out at this point tbh.

The Spurs will ...win 25-30 games per year for the foreseeable future, never enough for an impact top draft pick nor competing for a playoff berth.

If you only win 25 games, then you're pretty well within the lottery. Dallas won 24 this year and Sacramento won 27 (although they beat their lottery odds). And it looks like with the revamped lottery system, the odds improve for teams outside of the truly tanking teams...so winning 25-30 games will give you a good shot at a decent draft pick.

The Spurs should be as good or better next year even if they get nothing for Leonard (and they should at least get something).

Murray is young and ascending. LA is getting better within the Spurs ensemble. The Spurs will know going into the season that Leonard will not be there (unlike last year) and adjust accordingly from training camp on.

Many here like to deny it, but the Spurs' system is good -- with a few tweaks and some stability this time, they can make the playoffs again.

Agreed. Depending what kind of package they get for Kawhi they could easily win 50 games this season. Think about adding someone like Tatum to the team as the starting SF. even Jaylen Brown would have been the best wing on the team by a long shot this year.

San antonio is aight. Yeah SA is better than those cities you've mentioned but it aint all that. Plenty of jobs and cheap living is what it has going for it but the city has a "boring" label among young world tourists and celebrities. Yeah its a family oriented conservative city thats good for families due the parks and missions, but SA has ways to go before it could be considered a top class city.

San Antonio’s metro population is more than OKC, Tulsa and the next largest town in Oklahoma, all together.
