Lol. If they really wanted to be more environmentally friendly maybe they should give more than a ridiculous 10 cent discount for bringing your own mug.
Starbucks plans to phase out plastic straws by 2020, making it one of the largest retailers to commit to the no-straw movement. Your drink will come with a recyclable lid, with sort of a sipping spout, or you'll use biodegradable straws made from environmentally friendly materials.
The coffee chain giant with more than 28, 000 stores hands out at least a billion straws a year, but on Monday the company said “no more,” The Washington Post reported.

Ducks
there's already a brexit thread and starbucks thread, quit starting duplicate threads out of your hilariously dumb ass
we are talking about the bad product plastic
still do not see starbucks thread on first page
I guess it's fine and they're doing their part. But seems like it's just a PR move. A billion plastic straws probably doesn't even fill up a decent size living room.
And it's not like it's going to have any significant financial impact on them.
It is just a pr move. They could use only biodegradable plastics but that would cost them more and that, they have shareholders to appease.
It's almost always a pr move and/or a money saving move.
Reminds me of most hotels now that have a request notice in the bathroom asking to help the environment by reusing towels.
starbucks still living rent free because of ing christmas cups
Good ole Starbucks. Plantations and slavery are ay-okay in the states so long as the slaves aren't domestic and since those slaves can't be pandered to, Politicians don't give a either.
They're lying s. Half the stuff they claim as organic isn't and they contractually over their "fair trade" growers- it's not fair to anyone except Starbucks and their growers get far less than they should, but det contract...
You price coffee crops?
When you brag about "fair-trade" sourced coffee to show the world how ethical a company you are and over 90% of your coffee isn't fair-trade certified and you pay a fat wad less than the going rate your impoverished coffee growers get from everyone else, you're a company and a sham. Not my fault they say one thing and are doing the complete opposite.
Not that I even drink Starbucks, but link?
Been a minute since I read up, but here's a quick overview on their fair trade sham:

Have you never purchased a fast food/convenience store hot coffee in the last 30 years?
I don't either. Don't wear Nike shoes or support Apple in any way. That's my "I'm a good person, here's a personal boycott" list.
"Back in my day, the car hops delivered dinner straight to your car..."
I usually reuse my towel at least once. Back in the day, the room I was in didn't have any extra tp. I didn't discover this until I needed it.
So...they probably had to throw away a hand towel the next day.
When I saw this as a kid, I had no idea wtf she was delivering.
And we had landfill hogging straws dammit.the good ol days.
Me neither.
