Yes he vetoed a bill that would have prevented this.

It would have specifically clear cut Paradise, California?

the problem isn't the lack of federal logging permits.

it's too many people living in forests without adequate possibility of evacuation. it's a development/city planning issue.

the power company could bury its lines. that would help.

The problem is they are not clearing out old dead brush like they do here in Texas. Simple stuff.

That's not true. We've got plenty of overgrowth here in the hill country. What we don't have is lot's of wind during the driest months. So every big drought summer I see small fires here and there but they move slowly so they get put out pretty quick. It would be a different story if we got steady 40-50 mph winds in August. The area around Paradise was thinned by a fire just 10 years ago. This time it burned 70,000 acres in less than a day, just not much you can do with fire moving that fast.

They're never going to have a plan to evacuate people fast enough to avoid a fire moving 40-50 mph.

People move to, eg, Paradise, to live cheaply and close to wooded nature.

Of course, your rightwing assholes want to Ferngully every damn tree and forest, as if they were Muslims or blacks or browns.

There's nothing wrong with the forests, never has been. They don't need logging, or cleaning, or raking.

    You're ing re ed.

And wouldn't doubt Brown is pocketing some quick, fat cash on this deal per par with his administration. Brown never made a deal that he doesn't profit from. CA Demos are worse than their Tammany Hall counterparts.
