Rumor has it the Lakers are trying to trade for Ariza without giving anything of value up. No surprise there my question though not Spurs related is, If Ariza is on the trade market wouldn't it behoove the Rox to move heaven and earth to get him back since their team hasn't looked remotely the same since they lost him? If I was the Suns I would set up a bidding war and not just do the Lakers a solid. Then again the NBA has long history of teams trading talent for trash with the Lakers but the Suns moving off a valuable piece for Laker garbage or the Rox not beating the paltry Lakers offer seems strange to me.

The Suns are famous for letting talent get away for nothing. It's too bad Sarver hates the Spurs because SA has never been able to take advantage of Sarver's stupidity.

This is only the beginning. Just watch.. teams are gonna GIVE Lebron a team just like previous years. Starting with that Mosgov and JR smith trade he got in CLE. They weren’t going anywhere until that trade. Then each year it happened. It’ll happen again this year.

I mean why wouldn’t the Suns want to trade him for a young piece or a pick? Makes sense for them he’s on a 1 year deal so it’s very moveable and means nothing to do them long term. They have plenty of young athletic 3 & D wings. But keeping Ariza does them no good. They probably thought they’d be a outside shot at a playoff team this year but obviously they’re far from it, might as well trade him for whatever assets they can get back. No point in playing hardball trying to start a bid war and then every team backs out and waits for you to cut him

James Jones isn't even trying to hide the fact that he's on the Lakers/Lebron payroll anymore. Nothing they have done to help the lakers has or will help them.

it always happens. The league makes sure Lebron gets what he wants and now that he's on the lakers, we all know each commissioner sets a standard that the lakers must always get 10x more in a trade than what they give up

And let me guess. All the spurstalk wannabe GMs who in a recent Ariza thread were saying " no" on the Spurs acquiring Ariza will now be like, "Why didn't patfo sign him??? Stupid patfo!!"

If they are such good friends, why didn’t LBJ give them a meeting during free agency.

That’s obvious. Why would you lead on your friend? He was honest with him and said I’m not going there.

    So:
    - Lakers sign LBJ and have zero cap space in 2018
    - Chandler signs for a year for the Suns, then the new GM buys him out so he can go to his friend Pelinka, without even trying to trade him for a point guard which they obviously need.
    - Ariza signs for a year for the Suns, then as soon as possible is traded to the Lakers for matching salary (Caldwell Pope) instead of a young assets or a point guard.

The league has nothing to say about this sham?

No, I won't. ST is quick to recognize when Spurs players have aged out of relevancy, but blind to other teams. Ariza is done.

that's what I'm saying. This is so ing obvious of one team helping another out for no reason whatsoever. The league is just allowing this to happen. I wouldn't be shocked if Anthony Davis is traded for Lonzo Ball straight up

The whole league has so much money invested in the fake kang it's beyond laughable
You don't think favors and a few million dollars were thrown around to get Chandler to Lebum
    Rinse,repeat etc.

There's too much money to be made from the fakers being contenders and lebum burnishing his already faked legacy
I mean look at the loser posters here who call him the greatest player ever..LOL

Lebum proof that hype and advertising can accomplish anything
If anything Lebum is the MJ of bball
That is Michael Jackson of bball

Someone who was overhyped and obsessed about but after dying,no one can even remember him anymore.all those classic songs and artistic triumphs...LMFAO waht a load of just like Lebum

The Suns' GMs is one of LeBron's boys. He fasttracked cutting Tyson Chandler for his bud. I expect him to throw Ariza over there no problem.

The league didn't so much as cough when Jerry West threw Pay Gasol to the Lakers. This isn't a surprise.

I didn't clarify bc I was being lazy but I meant it more in the eyes of the Sun's GM they are best friends. LeBron has no problem casting aside his NBA friends (wade and melo) but has stuck by Carter no matter what. But Jones literally gave away Chandler for nothing when LeBron called and asked him to so it's not a surprise LeBron thinks he can get more from Jones.

LeBron has successfully pulled off a coup of the Suns FO. Phoenix is now officially LA/LBJ's farm team...

Wouldn't it be smart if PATFO trades Mills and Pondexter to the Suns for Ariza since the Suns are looking for a shooter to play next to Booker? And the Spurs badly need a 3-and-D wing? They would bite on that offer since the Lakers are only moving KCP and they try to find a 3rd team that sends a shooter to Phoneix for KCP. This move would also give the Spurs cap room for the offseason

but that 50 million $ leadership is to valuable

Makes you wonder why the Spurs never receive these type of favors with half the NBA GMs/coaches being Ex-Spurs staffers

that's what I am saying we can't even get our ex players back, ala Simmons or Dedmon much less valuable in their prime pieces.
