more than 50 percent of respondents said Democrats' views on

climate change,

health care,

immigration, and

abortion were "in the mainstream,"

whereas Republicans' views didn't cross the majority threshold on any single issue.

Climate change showed the widest disparity,

with 56 percent viewing Democrats as having mainstream policies,

while just 29 percent said the same of Republicans.

I agree that Democrats positions aren't socialist because socialists would control the means of production. Democrats want capitalists to manage the means of production and Democrats just want to control the benefits of that production.

Republicans just want to manage the benefits too, they just have different priorities. The concentration of wealth at the top of the income scale and the demonization of anyone who challenges that trend as "socialist", are the policy and tactics of the GOP.
