I would tend to agree. What is ironic is that the market-based Obamacare was originally a Republican idea. A Democrat co-opted it, and they all over it in a heartbeat, simply to score cheap political points.

Further irony is that rejection of a free market solution makes single payor and other government solutions (mixes like Germany, etc) a LOT more viable.

So much Trump party "policy" simply boils down to being a judgmental . The problem with simply assigning all poverty to moral faults, is that it ignores the real causes of poverty. Poverty itself. It is a self-feeding cycle. One is poor because of bad decisions, and one makes bad decisions because one is poor. Scarcity has a proven effect of reducing good long term decision making.

The evangelicals threw in with them to try to repress religious freedom, preying on their overt racism, to gain a foothold in the party. There were other political parties inside Germany during its Nazi turn that were also using scare tactics and looking for scapegoats.

Because the pushback can be worse, or maybe not.
We dont know. In any event, looking for common goals is a start in the correct direction.
