He wasn’t incredibly impressive with the Spurs. He showed signs of potential and maybe with a couple of seasons under his belt with our guys, he could have done something. But he’s putting up very average stats on the HAWKS. The HAWKS are only giving him about 25 minutes a game. The HAWKS man.

Dedmon should pay a commission to Pop on each contract he gets. Almost every scrub that shines on the Spurs gets a nice contract to go sucking somewhere else, showing his real value.
I think he was also like 27 when the Spurs signed him. Not a lot of time to develop that.

Jakob Poeltl is easily better than him
When the Spurs let players walk, it tends to be the right call. Spurs replaced Simmons with Gay (though, technically they may have been able to have both iirc) and let Dedmon walk.
Spurs haven't missed him and have a player in Poeltl who is much younger and better.

Dedmon is better than pau and should've been signed for the cheaper instead of him back then. He just screamed after dunks which is a big no no for pop if your a young black player
Both dedmon and pau suck, both whined about touches, but one is a hall of famer, the other is a scrub. They're both off the team, so o who cares? The better "why'd they leave" is jamychle green who is also a scrub but an NBA level scrub. Even jimmer is more NBA ready than dedmon. Retired David Lee is better than dedmon.
Dedmon was prone to fouling and couldn't do anything outside of rolling to the rim and catching lobs.
And plus, it's not like it was their choice. he opted out, and simply walked away to get paid. PATFO aren't going to want to pay a man when they would rather give a 37 year old Pau $48m. Duh...
Also, I heard that he did not have any intention in staying either. Good riddance to him, haven't heard a single thing about him since he left. What's he up to now? What about JSimmons? Is he even getting minutes in Philly?
To say the truth Deadman evolved a bit from what he was as a spur but not as much as some here "predicted" he would, while criticizing the FO for getting rid of him.
Nowadays we can see that he is indeed a better player but still has the same flaws, he's not a good box out player, not a good positional defender, not very high iq, misses rotations. He has evolved offensively more than defensively. And if he remained a spur, he would be now entering the first year of his loyalty contact and half the forum would be ripping him off for his flaws.
Money needed to be spent on Spiritual Leader Patty and LVPau obviously.
Besides being under 30 and having some good athleticism, the final straw imo was when he stuck up for himself and told Patrick Beverly to go F himself after got NBA ref let Beverly walk into the FT shooting circle and talk ish as Dedmon was about to shoot. Got ejected.

Uh he was a free agent. He chose to leave. Spurs didn't "get rid" of him
doin about 15-20 usually for the playoff bound Sixers.
I look for them to go to the ECFs but we'll see.
He doesn't have the defensive prowess's of a Patty Mills or the energetic off the bench infusion of a Pau Gasol, but Simmons will somehow do ok in Philly I think.
Lol Simmons just got a DNP the other night I happened to check. Highly doubt he is getting 20 mins a nite for Philly
