“I think leadership — this is just another example of Republicans who can't lead. And that's a really shameful. You know, the speaker and everyone in leadership knows that this man is a crook,” Miller said.
He accused the New York Republican of using his and his mother’s credit card information to steal $5,000 from each of them, and marking them as an over donation.

Governor Hochul can only set the date of the special election with a 6-week notice, not appoint an interim representative. This isn't a Senate seat we're talking about.
There will be a special election within the next 3 months or less. If the former representative Tom Suozzi (D) runs, he's the favorite; if he doesn't, it's a coin-toss.

Also the state parties get to nominate the candidates for this election and even though Suozzi is the best candidate, Hochul is irate about him trying to primary her and will probably stop him from being the candidate.
