ARG - Hair scare for Oberto
http://www.fiba.com/pages/en/news/la..._act_news=9724
SAN ANTONIO (FIBA World Championship 2006) - Argentina's Fabricio Oberto will make the ultimate sacrifice when he plays for San Antonio this season.
He will sit in the chair of Manu Ginobili's barber.
"Unfortunately, I think I will," says Oberto, laughing, on his close friend Ginobili's official website.
"I think I will adapt a little bit to the style used here while always maintaining my own image."
Argentinian sportsmen, especially football players, are known for having distinctive hairstyles.
The hirsute Maradona has always worn a mop of black curls while Gabriel Batistuta had the look of the saviour himself, especially after a hard game with Fiorentina.
"We will see what the outcome is," Oberto says.
Oberto will be a 30-year-old rookie in the NBA this season after a successful career in Europe.
It is a very important year for him, but not just in the US.
Oberto will also play in the FIBA World Championship next year in Japan.
The center will be looking to complete gold medal double, after helping Argentina win the Olympic le in Athens.
"After the Olympic Games, I decided to take it one year at a time," Oberto says.
"As in the NBA, you have more time to rest, there are more chances that I will continue with the national team.
"But I have played many years (for the national team) and the body feels it. So, for the time being, I think I will play in 2006 and then we will see."
Everyone in Argentina will remember Oberto leaving the court during the semi-final win over the United States, after a hard foul by Stephon Marbury resulted in Oberto suffering a broken hand.
The injury prevent Oberto from playing in the gold medal win over Italy.
Oberto was asked on Ginobili's website if Marbury is going to get special treatment.
"Absolutely not," Oberto says. "It's totally irrelevant."

Interesting.
This story is bogus. Manu has a barber? Yeah right!!!
This article was made from an interview Manu made to Oberto for Manu's website. Here is the photo taken by Sean Marks while the interview was taking place in the Spurs' plane.

^^ What kind of basketball team is that?????????? Sick!!
thats a young Argentine team.
You can tell Ginobili, Scola and Oberto.
I think Delfino might be in there.
i dont see how there was a scare about the hair...
Me either. I think FIBA.com was just trying to rap.
And Pepe Sanchez.
They look really young.
^^^^^^
Could pass for the group Menudo + back up members(or the former kicked out members).....Chulos.....![]()
Nope. No Delfino in that pic. The only young among youngsters is Scola that started playing for the NT at age 17 (I think).
Speaking of these two.. They are featured together on the cover of this week's Connexcion
Duncan's hair grows like a chia pet.

pROBALY has to have hair short so bball doesnt turn into soccer where the players wear girly headbands, just like what alex ferguson said about david beckham when he had his hair long and decided to wear a headband, and was called a girl for wearin it by ferguson
yeah I don't get it, Maradona never had that long a hair. If he wanted to make an accurate analogy, Sorin or maybe Caniggia would have been better.
Nice observation.
