That sounds like a funny blog.

The blog also suggests #15 for #19 and #29..
For Hatch or Little?..
That sounds like a funny blog.
oh god no
yes!
(But not 'til it's for sure that Rui Hachimura is available for the pick).
Neither trade is good tbh. I think Poeltl can be an above average starting center for the next decade moving him 29 for 15 is not really enticing unless the Spurs absolutely love someone who is projected to be gone before 19.
Trading 19 and 29 to move up 4 spots isn't good either. There are some interesting players available there.
My first reaction was no, but then I remembered we have Milutinov waiting in the pipeline. That could make that trade stomachable for me if we could bring him over and get someone like a Little or Hachimura at #15.
C - Aldridge, Milutinov
PF - Gay, Bertans, #19 (Samanic?)
SF - DeRozan, Little / Hachimura
SG - White, Forbes, Bellinelli
PG - Murray, Mills, Walker

I've said before that Poeltl makes the most sense as a trade piece if the Spurs' plan is to open up a contending window as soon as possible. Using him to hop from 29 to 15 would certainly be decent value, but I'm not sure they'd get anyone they wouldn't be able to go for at 19. Like maybe they draft Hachimura or Doumbouya and Fernando or Hayes. That could certainly end up being great long term. But it doesn't necessarily have the same potential as going from 19 into the top 10 and grabbing one of the elite wings who could drop there. Jakob's $11-Million cap hold could end up being a big factor in what options the Spurs have available to them next summer. It's almost twice as large as Murray's hold is slated to be. If DeJounte (or Walker) moves into semi-s om next year like some posters believe, the Spurs will be able to offer a strong supporting cast for a potential max free agent.
Let's say the Spurs can move 15 and 19 for 9 and grab Reddish or Hunter. Then they trade their 2020 first to get rid of Mills. So long as they only sign Gay to a one-year deal, the Spurs would enter free agency with just under $71 Million in committed salary with the following roster:
Murray (hold)
White, Walker
DeRozan, Hunter/Reddish
Aldridge
http://www.shamsports.com/capulator?...5d769023486160
That'd give them $42 Million in cap space and $66 Million under the tax to fill out the roster. Some of the nine spots will be filled with young players drafted in the second round or otherwise guys taken for filers. Let's add two of them, then Milutinov for $5 Million total. That's nine spots. A tenth will be the room-exception guy. With roster charges, that gives the Spurs just barely the room they need for a max slot. They could get a bit more by re-upping DeRozan to a long-term deal that starts out cheaper (like $100M/4). That could give them the room to keep Gay on a decent deal and still have their max spot and room exception.
Something like this:
Murray(hold), PG (RE)
White, Walker, Second-rounder
DeRozan, Hunter/Reddish
Max FA, Gay
Aldridge, Milutinov
I don't think milutinov will survive in the modern nba
Good luck having Milutinov as your main big, a recipe for disaster. I would pack Milutinov with a pick for a better pick.
15th pick seems a little too low. 10-12 would be the range I'd look at
Um, Walker isn't a PG.......
I like Poeltl if we had more than one pg on our roster. You sign him up for 4 years at 8mil per. He will be a starting center for years.
Wasn’t Poetl the 9th pick in 2016 draft?
19+Jacob for 15 in ty draft seems steep. Maybe Jacob straight up.
Also, still not getting all the Hachimora hype. You think he’d be a top 5 pick in here. But alas, i trust RC to make the right play especially in such a weird draft like this one.
I don't see Detroit doing that trade at all. More than a back up center they need wing and back court help. Shot I still think Milutinov could be a solid trade piece during the draft though
I just put him there to make our imbalanced roster look nice and symmetrical![]()
I don't think the cap math works. DET is significantly over cap, and aren't sending out enough salary (picks count for zero).
I would say no, in this draft whoever Spurs gonna draft with that 15 has a chance to be available at 19. The 29 then could be used to draft players with some red flag like Okeke. Besides Poletl is developing quite okay for a 9th pick no reason to trade him for a 15, with Aldridge likely to leave in 2 yrs we need him around to give us some options. If Lakers is offering the 4th, then it might be worth considering.
horrible trade. too much to move up 4 spots ....
14 spots.
don't understand why detroit should ask for a center when they already have a starting one for more than 30 minutes per game in Drummond...and theitr obvious need is about shooting. that said, tehy could be really interested in our supposedely available shooters, like Marco, Patrick, Bryn and Davis...
I thought trade proposed was Poetl and 19 for 15?
Even Poetl and 29 is a lot for 15 when we got 19.
Nah, I'd rather they take one of our sorry guards (aka anyone not named White, Walker, DeRozan) off our hands instead.
Blog ... / thread
Forbes has proven he can play point in an emergency role and I'm sure all these guards won't be carried into next season.
If Walker shows a lot of growth then Beli is as good as gone....
