GOP will probably start caring about "the deficit" on the evening of January 20, 2021.The U.S. Treasury on Friday said that the federal deficit for fiscal 2019 was $984 billion, a 26% increase from 2018 but still short of the $1 trillion mark.
The gap between revenues and spending was the widest in seven years. Defense, Medicare and interest payments ballooned the shortfall.

Neither party wants to fix it. If Democrats wanted to, they'd be spotlighting it instead of this Russian ploy. I would love it if Democrats got resonsible and pulled themselves up by their britches. But the truth is they want their benefactors paid. They want their pockets lined.

Did these folks actually supply us with information in the form in the form of tax returns?
Is it possible that conflict of interest requires we know more about who we elect?
Or conflict of interest, which is followed closely by several non profits, just does not matter anymore.
It would also be nice to know when and how these people became wealthy. The Clinton’s have pretty shown us how they have made their money.
Problem is US.
Its not magic. Voters vote and fail to get involved elsewhere. It’s somebody else’s problem. Start out at the bottom and look at who voluntarily takes on homeowners, condo owners, or apartment tenants associations. Then go to school boards. People gripe, but they don’t participate in the process because “it’s too big and powerful” oh dear. It’s frozen in place, we can’t change things. BS.
You cant change things because changing things requires effort among like minded people and leadership. And it can easily start at the bottom. You see it much more at the local level, but not as much anymore. Everyone should at least feel like they have skins in the game, but they don’t. Gripe and whine but don’t actually do anything.
When $ starts to get involved is when people start going sideways. Look at localities and how they decide to zone land. Then you get a view into how $ stinks things up. Profiting from getting elected, not for your skills in local issues and leadership, but skills in deal making when the capitalist comes to make a profit and convinces the elected official to fix something for a payment. If we want change in the current system, transparency on the local levels has to be called out as well. Preferably by the local press. I personally like the capitalist, but not when he makes money bribing local officials to do his dirty work.

It doesn't matter (for the point I was making) how they made their money. It's only notable because they try to relate to the average voter and they can't. They don't associate with the average voter. Granted, being a millionaire today isn't the same as it used to be, but the fact most of these people are independently wealthy yet run for office to change the laws of our country should tell you that the laws are more and more going to favor the financially elite.
