Its possible that you have a connection problem at your coax plug (where you plug in your cable). Or, it could be further down that path in one of the electronic modules (don't know what's in your "old" T.V.). If its a connector problem, then it should be simple to fix. If you need a module replaced then it will probably cost as much or more than a new T.V.
A word of warning though...unless you know your repairman well, he may try to rob you blind as the repair business is not much of a money making venture these days with new sets costing so little. Good luck.
