Obama described as 'parasite' on the Democratic Party in new book (msn.com)
A new book describes former President Barack Obama as a "parasite" on the Democratic Party, using it as a "host" during his first term to get reelected.
The description appears in a chapter of Battle for the Soul: Inside the Democrats' Campaign to Defeat Trump, written by Edward Isaac Dovere, a writer for the Atlantic, and former chief Washington correspondent for Politico.
"In his second term, he cared about what happened to the husk as much as any parasite does," Dovere writes, according to a report by Fox News.
The journalist cites Democratic losses in 2010, when Republicans took the majority in the House in a sweeping red wave, followed by 2014, when the GOP took control of both chambers in Congress.
"The numbers are hard to ignore: During his eight years in office, Obama oversaw a net loss of 947 state legislative seats, 63 House seats, 11 senators, and 13 governors," Dovere said.
Dovere said the former president only had two major success stories during his time in the White House: Supreme Court rulings upholding his signature healthcare plan, ObamaCare, and declaring same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states.
"In hindsight it's hard not to see delusion in the self-assurance and the celebration and the sense of moving forward of those two weeks in America," Dovere writes.
Dovere's book also talks about first lady Jill Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders. He claims Jill Biden told now-Vice President Kamala Harris to "go f*** yourself" after she referred to her husband, now-President Joe Biden, as a racist during a 2020 presidential primary debate.
The book also reports Sanders, a self-described socialist, has "minimum requirements" during his travels, including a request for a king-sized bed kept at 60 degrees and comfortable rights on private flights.
Dovere's book was compiled from more than 400 interviews over a four-year period. It chronicles the battle to remove former President Donald Trump from the White House. The book is set to release next week.

I mean, it would be silly to pretend that Obama wasn't the star of an otherwise very dull Democratic party.
One has to look no further than the last two Democratic presidential candidates to see that Dems have a lot of work to do when it comes to finding likeable and electable candidates.
I don't know why that guy gets your panties in a bunch, tbh... he was a two termer with exceptional approval ratings and winning his elections by pretty wide margins.
You can hate him all you want and I wasn't even a fan myself, but objectively speaking he was one of the most popular presidents in the last few decades.
I even recall Darrin trying to ding him over an alleged cult of personality, but that excuse is out the window after the last administration, tbh
Bernie was passed over numerous times. I don't think Obama was worse than what the Republicans countered with - Mitt Romney? I sat out that election but found that nomination comical.

It's a bit difficult to wrap my head around American politics sometimes, often. The parties many times operate/stand contradictory to how a classic conservative or classic liberal party should. It truly gives me high school bickering vibes. I pretty much feel it's this way by design at this point.

Attention by any means, lie, cheat, manufacture drama and perceived enemies, everything needs to be over the top, the danger is right around the corner coming for your children, etc. It's become cartoonish at this point. Social media has turned into the same thing in a lot of ways as well.

The psychological side must be fascination as well, probably think they're illuminated or special. Well, maybe they're special after all.
One thing Europe still has going for them is that they largely still take pride in having an educated society. I don't know exactly when it happened here in the US, maybe around the 'deplorables' time(?), but I suspect it's earlier than that, where being loud and ignorant became some sort of a badge of honor.
Fortunately it's a minority and hopefully over time it continues to dwindle, tbh

Once you reach adulthood, you should be able to have at least a bare minimum of curiosity and critical thinking to understand why you keep falling for the same every time, and turn the tide.
