Well he's not buying all those grenades and oozies this year so he might as well spend the extra cash on something worth while.
I'm sure that everybody already knows what a class act KG is and what he did, but I still wanted to expressly say it.
As we all know, KG gave over a million dollars to the victims of Katrina as part of the relief effort. He is donating through Oprah's organization because she pays for all the costs of running the organization (ie overhead). That way, all of the money that he donates goes to the victims.
That is a lot of money. It is extremely generous. The Heat Spurs game raised a million dollars and that was with 2 full teams donating. This is being donated by a single person.
I think that's really cool. Big time props to KG!!!![]()

Tax refund time Is around the corner... Don't think he Is doing this for free!![]()
Donation begins with deduction.
But a nice gesture nonetheless.
Marbury did the same thing.
KG still sucks.
KG will have stumble along with his remaining $19M this year.
Anybody know enough about tax deductions (I'm sure KG's top-flight tax lawyer does) to know whether KG actually went out of pocket with this contribution, or was it "pocket netural".
I hate that when someone like KG donates a bunch of money, there are people who question the sincerity/motivation of the act. Who cares why he did it or how much of a deduction he can claim or how much he has leftover with which to buy another Bentley? It's still a nice thing to do.
I'm sure boutons will gladly present proof that he/she donated over 1/19th of his pretax salary to charity this year.KG will have stumble along with his remaining $19M this year.
Any donations I make are my business, not for press releases.
Spurs fans continue to show their brilliance.
Press Releases are part of the entertainment business. If you had fans, or if people simply gave a who you are, your donations would be communicated in PR's too.
Translation: I don't donate anything
KG is a poor excuse for a human being. Overrated and still ringless. I careless.
It's nice of him to do that, but I still dislike his sorry ass. He might be a nice person off the court, but on it he and Kobe are the two players that I dislike the most. He'll always be without a ring and that's nice to know. Best PF in the game, puhh.
Don't think he does it for good press??
can you say
sucker?
I don't understand why some people could Hate this guy. He might not make the best comments off the court, but he plays hard every night. y'all some haters.
When David Robinson publicly gives millions he's a saint. When KG does it he's just doing it for the pub.
Yeah.
Because David had a history of doing it.
KG donates a mill, yippee, he makes 20 a year, thats like me throwing in 10 bucks.
Sure man. KG was 'greedy' up until Katrina. Sure.
doubt it. That would mean u make $200 a year.
If a person makes $50,000/year, they would have to donate $2500. that aint bad.
Some players you like and others you don't. He's arrogant and that I hate. Look at Gilbert Arenas the other night. After the game he was asked about his teams performance and he said they got the Spurs on a long road trip, the Spurs were tired and they were playing at home. All true and very unlike what KG would've said, that's for sure.
You know, it's still a game. We take it seriously but that doesn't change that fact. If Garnett uses his celebrity and wealth to help a deserving cause I think that's commendable.
Can you say Irrational Cynicism?
Spurs fans are frickin' idiots sometimes.
If Duncan stepped up and donated a million or two, Spurs fans would be anointing him. Since it's KG, then he's just doing it for tax reasons or publicity?? STFU.
Threads like this are embarrassing. You guys are pitiful.
KG donated $1.2M and he went through Oprah's foundation to do it because ALL of the money goes directly to the charitable works (she covers all the overhead herself unlike most national organizations where only a small percentage gets to the actual people that need it).
The money is going directly to building homes for people in the gulf region. It's a HUGE gesture whether you guys think so or not. KG makes $18M this year and half of it goes to taxes. So he gave about 13% of his take home pay this year directly to a charity. That's frickin' awesome. Stop hating.
Who cares what he does with his money, it's his money not anyone else's. And the same goes for Tim Duncan, i could really care less. Don't expect me to all over the place becuase of it.
