    Um, it's referenced in literature from the 1880's as the Big Apple, so that's not quite true either.

    Still pretty interesting overall, though.

    That's a myth.

    Brazil

    That's false. The country is named after a reddish dye brazilin which comes the wood of a tree, Caesalpinia echinata.

    The brazil nut comes from a totally different tree.

    I'm guessing the key word there is paved. And I'm assuming they mean with asphalt as opposed to laying bricks down.

    The first recorded use of asphalt as a road building material was in Babylon around 625 B.C., in the reign of King Naboppolassar.
