Which programme are you watching the gifs in? Are you talking about Firefox or IE? Do you see the animation if you right click on a gif and choose preview?
My PC crashed a couple months back so I got a brand new PC. Everything works very well on it except one thing, animated gifs aren't animated and I can't figure out why. I know it's probably one little setting I need to change but I can't figure out where that setting is. Help?
p.s. - I'm running on Windows XP.

OK I know there's a setting for the gifs in FireFox so I suspect there's one in IE too. Let me have a look. Since you can see it in the preview it's not an XP problem but vrather an Internet Explorer thing.
Yeah, it's only animated gifs that are accessed from the internet that I'm trying to view in Internet Explorer.
If it's on my PC and I right-click to preview, it's animated. If it's my own web-site and I'm viewing it directly from my PC (image linking to my HDD, not the internet) it's animated. Anything online, not animated.
Quite frustrating, and makes the little emoticons really boring.
Do you by any chance use ZoneAlarm?
Go to Internet Options.
Click the Advanced Tab.
And then Play Animations on Web Pages.
Yes, I do.
That is already checked, one of the first things I tried.
Zone Alarm is probably at fault!
Go check the privacy settings there's a checkbox that blocks animations.
zone alarm - Privacy - Ad Blocking - Custom - and unchecking the 'animation' box
You're my hero!!! It's under ad blocking and says to block animations. Thanks so much!
You're welcome![]()
what did you do with the crashed PC?
I need parts.
Quite honestly, nothing at this point. It needs a new motherboard and new memory (since the old MB took RAMbus and a new MB wouldn't be compatible) and the old HDD is in my new PC, as is the DVD-burner. It's pretty much just a case, some RAMbus memory, a video card and not much else.
will you take 50 dollar Tim Duncan bowman chrome rookie in gem mint condition?
or a copy of Adobe PhotoShop CS
I found some use for my crashed Dell...
I have never had a PC that was worth tossing out.
The only thing I have tossed out was maybe a HD ,a cpu chip, and a cd rom.
there is always some family I find that will take an old running pc. I have given out about 5 so far, If I had more donations I could do more.
But at least this guy got some use from the case
